(the zip ties are because this is a DIY mid drive ebike)

My 2025 Motobecane Elite Adventure Pro still has caliper alignment problems even after truing the rotors and recentering the calipers. When pulling the brakes, the rotor gets twisted slightly. I'm also hearing rotor rub on the front but I cannot see the rotor touching the pads. I've also tried spreading out the pistons.

I first would like to know if I set up the brakes correctly, particularly the post mount adapters. I've noticed that the front one has an indicator pointing down on the left side of the bike, while the adapter on the rear is flipped around. It's making good brake pad contact but I want to know if this can contribute to the problem.

It's also possible that the post mounts on the frame are not faced correctly (not machined flat). However, that's a very expensive possibility so I'd rather address the other factors first with your help.

The braking system is SRAM-DB-LEVEL-A1 dual piston hydraulic brakes with 180mm rotors.

  1. It might be rubbing on the caliper itself if it is not the proper distance from the fork. Typically the arrow should be pointing up on the fork and forward on the rear triangle.
