Hey! Am relatively new in the gravel universe and experimenting a bit atm. The goal is to find the most offroad capable setup for a gravel bike!

I’m riding a nuroad c62 ex 2025 which is suitable for a 50mm or 2.0 inch tire and atm I’m riding 29×2.0 Conti race king.

Did someone try a wider tire ? Because for my perception there’s still room for more! A 2.1 Or even a 2.2!

Has anyone tried a 2.1 Or 2.2 on an nuroad c62 and if so on which set of wheels ?

Why do you want wider tires? What you have is excellent already. I ride some rough singletrack on my 45mm tires.

The switch from 45 to 50mm tires the feeling of my bike completely, soooo maybe it’s just curiosity what’s possible and how it will feel.

  3. With some scratches on frame I was able to ride 2.35 on that frame with stock 25mm wide rims.
Apart from this extreme I mostly enjoy 2.1 on this bike because it still feels quite fast on road but holds up well on rocky stuff.

Also I’d add that 2.2 conti race kings were absolutely ok in this frame, without problems even in mud.

I don’t get why someone would get 2.0 Race Kings. If you can’t fit 2.2 Protection and absolutely want wider tires, get 50mm gravel ones, which can have much better grip and rolling resistance than the budget Race Kings.

    Must be the hype.

Wide nobby tires are ideal for single track and chunky loose gravel, but everything is a compromise. It’s hard not to trick out your bike for your fantasy terrain, because, well, it’s fun. But taking the prudent path and getting the tires for the terrain you’re actually going to be riding is going to make you happier. If you’re riding 10 miles of road to get to 2 miles of dry trails, a 45mm semi-slick will be substantialy faster*and* lighter overall. If you can swing it, set up another wheelset for mixed road/gravel and save the super swampers for driving to the trailhead.
