I've read few posts about lake Como bicycle loop, but would like to get some more information about it – what should I expect and what equipment is necessary. I don't use bike a lot, but I do run and exercise so I'm quite fit. Last year I've done ~170 km around lake Iseo and Garda (most of it in two days but not consecutive).
Currently my plan would be to do a loop around lake Como in 3 days:
- Como – Domaso
- Domaso – Lecco
- Lecco – Bellagio – Como
I would also rent a bike in Como (not e-bike). Do you think this is doable (I've read that google maps have way to small ascent/descent numbers) and what kind of bike would you suggest me to use?
EDIT:
This would be my loop plan. Is it valid/routable?

We rented road bikes in the area last summer from Bike It Bellagio and highly recommend them. Not cheap but we got beautiful Bianchis. They have a ton of information and suggested routes on their website and their staff were super helpful if you want to check the difficulty. We did the loop to Lugano because the traffic around Como was a bit too much for me but prepare for hills for sure.

The loop is 100% road, some steep climbs are part of the game. So get yourself a nice roadready bike.
Clockwise the right side is more hilly. 3 days sounds just right. I went last year and did it in 3 days.
