Hi everyone, I have this Shimano wheel (hub is FH-MT400-B) which seems to be missing some parts. I'm guessing it was a thru-axle originally, so, correct me if I'm wrong, I would have to get:

-a new thru axle

-dust covers for the hub

-cartridge bearing for the disc side

-different, cup cone bearing for the freehub side (?)

Thanks in advance for any insight

  1. Shimano are very good with having expanded diagrams of their hubs available with all parts and their codes named. I would wager there’s one online if you search the hub name and “diagram” or “pdf” (I’ve found pdfs even for hubs that are older than I am).

  2. It might be more cost effective to find a replacement hub.

A quick ebay search shows that hub for $60 and the axle assembly with bearings is $61.

Find the same hub on eBay or at a co-op and gut it for the parts you are missing.

  4. I would bet you could find another one those hubs for a donor cheaper than all those parts.

The NDS is missing the cup, not a cartridge bearing.

Did you find this in the trash?
