A proper rainy winter bike ride from Macclesfield to Liverpool with AJ, starting out on quiet trails, rolling along parts of the Trans Pennine Trail, and finishing in the city for a little wander and some photos.

We ended the ride with a comfort-food stop at Jollibee Liverpool, then took the train back when it got dark and we started feeling that post-food sleepiness.

  1. Great video. The cooling towers are the old Fiddlers ferry power station. Originally eight towers the last four are due to come down at some point during 2026. That's a lovely yellow bicycle, what make is it?

  2. The "gaming" site is the now closed down Fiddler's Ferry 2000MW coal fired power station, it closed in 2020, the second structure you questioned is the recently opened Mersey Gateway bridge. 👍

  3. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the overcast weather and architecture. I hope you can hang onto the enjoyment of the contrast, as sadly it is pretty common here!

Was a lovely ride to watch, and your the rufus stone bike looks to be a lovely tourer!

  4. Brilliant watching you cycle along Route 62. I often do the Warrington stretch myself. Around Widnes and Walton, as it runs from the Sankey Valley trail to to see it captured by another keen cyclist is brilliant.

The power station, you're right it does look right out of C&C: Red Alert, is Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. When I was passing last summer I managed to get my drone over there. If you're looking to waste a few minutes it's here, if you would like to watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrLE5T0ydFQ

    Have a great New Year.

  5. I have a yellow bike that 'looks' a lot like yours. It's quite different but looks like your bike. On my channel. // I enjoyed this ride. Thank you.
