I have the brooks C17 carved for my brompton P line. It is very comfortable and I use it regularly. I want to buy another brooks C17 for my other brompton, but there is only available the C17 regular (uncarved). There is no brompton store nor brooks store in my country. I am ordering from one of the few retailers that ships to my country in South America. So I have few options to choose.

Could you please give me some advice? Is the C17 uncarved suitable? What advantages does the regular C17 have over the carved one? I know the carved one has supposed to have perinial relief. Or should I keep with the standard seatpost of my brompton?

I have uncarved c15. I think carved ones have more flex. Saddle is very personal choice, and often it takes a few tries to find the one you like. If you found one, I recommend sticking to that exact one.

There’s basically no “advantage”, essentially, it’s just a slightly firmer saddle because there is no cutout. It may work for some, the cutout works for others.

If you know the C17 Carved works for you, find a way to get another of the same one, even if it’s more expensive or slower. You presumably moved from the stock saddle to the Brooks for a reason, so I wouldn’t go back to the Brompton stock saddle.

Saddle choice is such a personal thing, that if you’ve not got the easy option to buy and return, then stick with what you know works.

I use both saddles and in my experience they are more or less the same with the carved offering a little more ‘suspension’ comfort.

  4. The carved give you a bungee type experience and for me its a must for comfort of my man parts.
