Has anyone else tried these Topeak VersaMount fixings on their front forks, specifically tapered fork legs like mine (picture 1)?
I'm worried it will slip down, loosening the clips because of the taper.
Would love to hear if anyone has experience with this (admittedly pretty specific) case
Bike is a 2007 Stevens Cyclocross Prestige by the way if that helps

That looks sketchy. I know this isn’t what you want to hear but have you looked at these?

I had the Versacage on my carbon fork for a 6month long trip. They didnt slip but chewed through the tape i put beneath. I had a small crash that hit the bag straped to the cage and luckily the plastic-clamp snapped and didnt wreck the whole fork. Overall I wouldn’t reccomend it. Quite sketchy and not rigit at all.
Edit: I have a tapered fork aswell
I have a tapered fork. I decided to use cleaveland mountaineering CNC mounts. They come in 2/3 hole options. I used the strongest double sided tape, then electrical tape (about 10 super tight wraps in 5 locations under the hose/zip clamps ). then I used 3 hose clamps over…and then 2 150lb zip ties.
These have held everything from 48oz nalgenes to 5L dry bags on gravel, single track and pavement for several hundred to maybe 1000 miles without needing any addjustment. Even laying the bike down on the size and the bags supporting it, zero movement.
I don’t know if Jeremy still has those in stock, he’s made them for me once before as a one time run. But if not, I believe Topeak bottle relocators, while not nearly as strong or designed for the purpose, would absolutely work. And they cost like $10 for a set vs about $30. I’d say if you can get the Cleaveland version, totally worth it. But if not, Topeak should work just fine.

Don’t do this. This looks so sketchy. Get a rack
I had the same issue . I took them on a 6 weeks tour anyways and it was a pain in the but, they slipped a lot. I ” fixed ” it with lots of tape…..it kind of worked but I wouldn’t recommend
No, only on my rear forks.
I ran those on two 1000 mile trips without issue. I mounted them on a Niner carbon fork with helicopter tape underneath. I kept food in one bag, and water and filter in the other. The Voile straps I used to hold the bag on went all the way around the fork leg for extra support. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
