I am looking at buying this 2023 Specialized Roubiax Sport (61cm), but want to make sure it’s right for me

I have been cycling for a little over a year now, and used it for a couple races (Sprint + Oly Tri) I have an aluminum Trek Madone (2.1 I think?) that’s 58cm.

I am about 6’2 1/2 tall.

These are my questions:
-Would this larger bike be more suitable for my size?
-Is this a reasonable price for this bike? ($2,000)
-Would the ride quality be noticeable between my current bike and this one?
-Is the quarq power meter desirable?

Appreciate all help and insight on this bike!

  1. Depends on your arm and leg proportions but I’m 6’2 and have found 61cm bikes to consistently be too large. Just do a 58cm bike with a longer stem if you need.

You’d notice a ride difference but mostly because of the ability of the roubaix to fit wider, more comfortable tires. However the roubaix is also overpriced by atleast $500. At $2000 USD I’d expect 2 of the 3: power meter, carbon wheelset, or electronic shifting but maybe I’m too optimistic

  2. In all likelihood, the Roubiax is going to be too big looking at their size chart but it really depends on how you are proportioned.

  3. Remarkable-Train-170 on

    I’m 6’ 2” , with a 34” inseam and riding a 59 and 58 frames In my experience a frame that’s a little small is very manageable but a frame that’s a little large is a a big pain in the butt

  4. I think a 6’1″ will fit ok. I am 6’1″ and ride 57-61 bikes. Each frame is a bit different, even when labeled the same. Also, as I age, I like less aggressive frames.

  5. If you plan on focusing on Tri an aero bike like a Tarmac would be a better choice than an all road/endurance bike.

  6. that’s a really big frame, so unless you have abnormally long legs and arms, this would probably be quite big, especially with that amount of stack, I’d imagine you’d feel quite upright on this bike. Not that it’s a bad thing, it’s an endurance bike afterall, but you do kind of want some saddle-to-bar drop. Whoever road this bike in my opinion is quite clearly over 6’3. That’s a very tall saddle height and quite a saddle to bar drop even with that amount of stack at the front.

You won’t really know until you try it, but for just a general reference, and this isn’t very important to your own measurements, but my friend is 6’3 and is riding a 58cm Trek Domane, not that far off from the geometry of the roubaix within the same size. He previously also had a size 61cm 2012 trek madone 6 series, which would’ve been very close or maybe even identical in geometry as your trek madone 2.1 and he found that bike to be much too long and aggressive.
