Is this a banger of a deal for a entry level mtb or am i missing something?
Been trying to find a above mid used mtb with a bit of a budget on gumtree, ebay and facebook and i'm getting no luck at all. Popped in Go Outdoors today and seen this. Any help would be great!

That definitely looks like a banger of a deal with the judy fork. The no thru axle is a bummer but not the worst. I can’t imagine a better deal for the price. Get it and send it. A dropper post is a good upgrade but other than than that better to save your money for a new bike.
Doesn’t look terrible from a glance, you’ll want to get a dropper post. They make external droppers so you don’t have to route through the bike.
Not a fan of cables being ran on the bottom tube, absolute worst case scenario the hydraulic lines can get cut – but that’s a rare scenario.
You can get a lot worse for that money. Looks ok to me.
def a good deal but i personally would prefer a thru axle and a tapered headtube
No great deal, but decent imo. Make sure you like it as it is, as any upgrade you’ll have to make will up your cost towards a comparable big-brand bike (add dropper for $100+ will somehow feel ridiculous…).
At least it’s no junk, but a real mountain bike – except for the drivetrain and QR axles: it would be a huge step up for you as a beginner to have a 1 x drivetrain, and no through axle support makes upgrades harder (more expensive).
decent buy but one you’ll probably skill develop out of pretty quickly – I had the same experience with a bottom tier trek marlin. the components are OK but a few things (no tapered steer tube, qr axles) mean it really won’t be worth the trouble of upgrading the bike and you’ll very likely start hitting the limits of the bike in a few months
One of my top MTB tips is to buy a bike because its whats you want to have fun. Buying a bike because its a “good deal” is a bad reason to make this decision.
This is an expensive hobby. Money absolutely equates to enjoyment most of the time. If you care about money, get another hobby. If you are going to be cheap, you are going to constantly be wondering “is it the bike, or is it me”.
My biggest MTB mistake was being cheap about a bike and it was just miserable to ride. So from that context, this bike is not a deal, just a waste of your time and money.
