It’s amazing that I can walk out the front door and cycle nearly 30km across the Australian Alps without effort. Beyond Falls Creek Village the Bogong High Plains Road is utterly enchanting – we watched it being resealed 3 years ago and it’s still billiard table smooth, despite the harsh winters. Having so little traffic is also a bonus – over 90 minutes I was passed by 5 cars, who were very courteous to cyclists (most are also cyclists). At the turnaround point at Mt Cope you can look across and see Mt Kosciuszko (Australia’s highest) in NSW.
It’s a toss up between my 6 speed C Line and it’s faster road focus (54t chain ring), or the 8 speed G Line and it’s much lower gears, heavier frame and soft tyres.
