  1. Young players pay attention 6:40 Do not EVER turn your back to the ball and run toward your own goal like the center-back here. There is NEVER a reason to run away from the ball like that when you are the last line of defense/ce. Backpedal and face the ball and keep up the pressure. Don't let the attacker dictate how fast he runs with the ball and to wherever he pleases. Good on Wrexham for destroying that atrocious defending.

    I'm seeing this more and more at every pro level over the past decade. It's a failure of coaching at the youth level. Every 10 year old knew better when I was growing up and pros rarely made such a basic mistake (Grumpy old man voice). A bit of pressure can at least force a decision by the attacker, or force a bad pass. If not, then you're useless when you're the last defender and you run away from the ball.

  2. that penalty should have been a redcard for wrexham. he clearly layed down before he got hit. and searched for contact with his right foot!
