It was a wet start to the day in France, but I wasn’t going to let a bit of rain stop me! In this episode of Travelsonabike2 (S24 E5), I pack up my Hilleberg tent in the rain and head towards Le Havre, facing one of the most intimidating parts of this tour: the Pont de Normandie.
Crossing that bridge on a bicycle is definitely an experience! With narrow paths, high winds, and a steep climb, it was a real test of my nerves (and my hip!). Once across, I navigated the industrial ports of Le Havre, found a much-needed boulangerie for some baguettes and croissants, and eventually found a quiet campsite to dry out my gear.
I ended the day covering 35 miles—more than I expected given the late start and the weather!

I’m Garry McGivern, and I’ve been travelling the world by bike since 2008. My vlogs are unscripted and honest—sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between. I’ve now cycled more than 60,000 miles around the world 🌏 on my trusty bike, Passepartout. And still going.
My video 📹 blogs complement my written blogs, which I publish daily on my website, https://www.garrymcgivern.com/, each time I head off on a bicycle tour. Bear in mind when watching. The video 📹 is unscripted and recorded as I cycle along 🚲, and might not be of the highest quality. The footage is then cobbled together when I get home. It’s certainly no Hollywood 🎬 production. But it might just make you smile and inspire you to get on your bike and head off on your own bicycle tour.

I've never been over that bridge. Nice ride but you don't seem to stop for coffee. Good that you can sit on your heels.
