      Just a note for anyone curious, trespassing in the abandoned tunnels or “ghost stations” of the Paris Metro is strictly illegal. The network is owned by the RATP, and access without authorization can lead to heavy fines, arrest, or even prosecution. Some areas are also monitored by CCTV and sensors.

      It’s not just about the law, these tunnels can be dangerous: live tracks, poor air, asbestos, and sudden train movements make them risky. France’s cataphile explorers (those who explore the underground) often stick to older catacombs, but even that’s technically illegal without permission.

      The Paris underground is full of history, but it’s best appreciated through guided tours or official documentation, not by sneaking in!
