The Only Two Countries in the World That Are Double Landlocked

Description:
You may have heard of landlocked countries—those without coastlines—but did you know there are only two countries in the entire world that are double landlocked? This means even their neighboring countries have no access to the sea or ocean.

The first is Liechtenstein, a tiny nation in the heart of Europe. Surrounded entirely by other landlocked states, it is completely cut off from any direct maritime route. Despite its size, it represents a rare geographical phenomenon.

The second is Uzbekistan, located in Central Asia, thousands of kilometers from the nearest coastline. Once a key stop along the ancient Silk Road, it remains today a unique example of a nation that can only reach the sea by passing through multiple other landlocked countries.

This fascinating feature of geography raises an important question: how do such nations adapt economically and commercially despite their natural isolation?

  1. Austria is not truly landlocked, as it has access to the Danube and thus the Black Sea.
This leaves Uzbekistan as the only truly double landlocked country, unless you consider the connection between the Caspian and Black seas to constitute access for Kazakhstan, in which case Uzbekistan exits this exclusive club.

  2. Vatican single landlocked worth a mention maybe
Edit : Italy would need to be landlocked for Vatican to be a single landlocked country, I shouldn’t comment when I’m tired 😂

  3. Noone or all are locked – watch the form of Austria and Switzerland… and where it's located – Half of Europe would lose access to the Adria if these 2 countries would lock their borders.

  4. I mean, the Volga-Don canal connects the Caspian to the Black Sea, which is connected to the Mediterranean Sea, which gets you out to the Atlantic Ocean or to Red Sea/Indian Ocean via the Suez.

So Kazakhstan isnt really land locked by that technicality. FUTHERMORE The Danube is a navigatable waterway thst connects Austria to the Black Sea. So… Neither of these (Uzbekista+ Leich) are completely count as doubly landlocked.
