On September 3, 2025, I rolled out of the Lednice–Valtice Area for the final ride of this short cycling tour leading into the AZUB 25th Anniversary celebration in Nivnice, Czechia.

Riders had two options that day — a long 100 km route, or a shorter 48 km ride. With a talk to prepare for later that evening, I chose the shorter distance… and honestly, it turned out to be the perfect call.

Leaving the castle grounds behind, we pedaled through quiet villages, farmland littered with crushed pumpkins and sunflowers, and past smaller “castle” buildings scattered across the estate — the kind of backyard decorations most of us definitely didn’t grow up with.

Along the way, I tried a true Czech cheeseburger (yes… it’s literally cheese), sampled burčák — a lightly fermented grape juice that’s only available for a short window each year — and even picked up something I never expected to find on a bike path: a freshly detached lizard tail, still wriggling thanks to nature’s built-in escape mechanism.

This ride wasn’t about distance. It was about shared laughs, strange moments, local flavors, and the kind of cycling experience that reminds you why events like this exist in the first place.

  1. It is so nice to see countries and their cultures that embrace bicycling. Even with trails that aren’t in the greatest shape is better than nothing. In the US we have trails but nothing like I see in Europe. They have dedicated bike lanes, trails and motorists who understand and are not a$$holes. I try to stay as close to the edge of the road as possible with my trike but you still get people who just don’t care and try to mess with you. In one of your resent videos you had a pickup truck pull up to you and blow black smoke into your face, I have had that happen to me several times before. I have decided to stop riding on roads anymore and just keep to rail trails. Why can’t everyone just be nice to everyone, is that too much to ask.

  2. Actually, as an FAA licensed drone pilot, I used DJI products exclusively. The proposed ban has to do with government use and how some Chinese companies are using the technology to spy on us. From what I have ascertained, the ban has been lifted as DJI has not been proven to be part of the spying problem.
