Ústí nad Labem and Ostrava: Framework agreements for up to 46 new Škoda battery trolleybuses

  1. Salvador in Bahia state has begun doing preliminary testing on its (real) LRT line, between Calçada and Paripe. The line was built using the trackbed of a former very decayed meter-gauge electric line which was closed for upgrading 4 years ago and which only now is being worked on. Gauge is standard and the trains are CAF Urbos, purchased from Cuiaba's unfinished light rail.

  2. Re the Paris cable car: 11,000 passengers in a 20-hour day is 550 passengers per hour, or about the capacity of 6 or 7 buses per hour, which is pretty decent.

  3. So much exciting news from Europe!! I wish that were the case in the United States. As I have mentioned before, I'm a transit nerd (but not so much for buses, except of course, for trolley buses) so City for All is my favorite non-political YouTube channel. BTW, I grew up in San Francisco, California, so that's probably where I became so enamored of trolley buses. SF has an extensive trolley bus system which is a great mode of transportation for such a hilly city.

  4. This week's been quite good for urban news. Also, new stadler flirt trains have just arrived in portugal and have been unveiled a few days ago.

  5. Actually Bahn means is just way in German not Railway. Exemple : there is no train on the Autobahn unless there on the back of a Semi-Truck. Some Autobahn have no speed limits.

  6. I've had bad experiences with CRRC buses
The ones in Auckland rattle themselves to bits whenever the road isn't completely smooth, and as soon as it rains begin having traction problems. If it's wet they slip when both accelerating and decelerating. Even better when it's wet and the bus has to go up a hill, the bus is barely able to move faster than walking speed because it keeps slipping.
I don't know if the CRRC bendy bus has the same problem but given the build quality of the ones we've got I doubt they'd last very long.
