Cycling Ermin Street 125 years of change on my Brompton Bike
I saw this old photo the the Old road to Highworth as it meandered its way through what looks like peaceful countryside.
The scene is very different today. Now the peaceful scene is one of constant traffic and noise. We have lost so much in our quest for progress!
Very interesting Sandy, how things have changed. I shall be that way tomorrow as showing my dog at Grange Leisure Centre. Do enjoy history thank you. Jan
Great video Sandy. Just about every town and village it seems is having estates added to them almost willy nilly which taxe away a lot of the original character of them.
That was a great Brompton tour Sandy. I really enjoyed it. One long lifetime ago, we lived in a very different world. Two long lifetimes ago even the language was different. Great work on this one Sandy.
Sandy got to thank you, your bucket planting of 3 seed potatoes has given us a harvest of 26 potatoes downunder here in New Zealand. Many thanks and all the best for 2026.
Lovely job Sandy, I think I need to get my Brompton out and about too. I do like the then and now format, did that with some of my railway vids. Cheers.
The BBC could produce something like this instead of their usual drivel. Unfortunately, it would cost £50,000 to produce, and would have to include sections on slavery, colonialism and the plight of women. Thanks for your time Sandy. Best wishes to you and your wife for Christmas and the New Year.

Hi sandy really enjoy the videos you do on your local history you make it very interesting appreciate all the research you do, also like the bike journeys you go on
Great film i used to live at 93 Ermine street . Built in the 1860's. So much interesting history in the area. Sad to see how it's being overwhelmed by development at such a rate. Live in the The North East now but still have fond memories for Swindon.

Used to live in Stratton but never knew the history around it
A good video. It was very well researched. It’s surprising how much has been altered. I like seeing the old photos showing how it once was.

Great story about the spitfire pilot. I knew about it but didn’t know there was a bench. A real hero. Well done, Sandy.

I really enjoyed this Sandy. Thanks for sharing. Hyped 👍
21:32 There were no cars then. Bliss.
26:35 Watch as the grey Seat Ibiza sails through a red traffic light, obviously their journey is more important than the life of anyone else’s.
Nice one Sandy, I really enjoyed that.
