I flew to South Africa with my bike to cure my seasonal depression

I’ve spawned on the other side of the world in Cape Town, South Africa and I’ve brought my bike with me to explore what this beautiful part of the world has to offer for cyclists. It’s currently Summer here in SA so come along for a sensational day of cycling in the sun with the Cape Town’s finest locals.

I don't know where we are at the minute. We have drove about 40 minutes away from Cape Town because we've got a big group ride lined up today. 120k with 1,700 m of climbing or something along them lines. After the last 4 days of riding, my legs are in the mud. So, it's going to be a long one. like it always is, especially when you're riding with people who are stronger than you. Garrett's here. Clubhouse boys are here. Let's see how we're getting on. labels blowing up my line and got me missing calls. Told her you ain't got to hit me till you licking balls. Feel like ZVF, baby, I'll be cooler than the mink weather. Make a coke bottle, give me brain till I think better. Back up on my [ __ ] again. Hanging out with Benjamin. Franklin got me stanking in the lank and talking dividends. Look at what we did again. Brought the water dipping in down in Texas on the elbows where your dig spin. All these [ __ ] I can smell it through the audio lapping. Everybody got me working on my cardio party over daddy home. Creeping out the caddy straight from underground. I got these [ __ ] on. >> Trucking our way up the first climb of the day. It's 13 km. We've got 3k left. Legs aren't feeling too good at the minute. I hate it when you go straight into a climb without a warm up. It's no bueno. But the views are pretty spectacular up here. Shoot tonight. Heat. Heat. That was [ __ ] unbelievable. Did you see the baboons? Yeah, >> baboons just in the middle of the road, mate. Only in South Africa. Heat. Heat. How do you This is the first cafe stop of the day. >> Yeah, it's well nice. What is it? A vineyard. That was bar. Maybe it's the best ride ever. >> This one? >> Yeah. How are your legs? >> My legs lands. Awesome. >> Have you done this one before? >> No. >> Everyone's on a new ride out here. >> You are the good old fashioned cars remind. Yeah, I don't know where we are. I think we're in some kind of like vineyard place. Not really sure. Well, we are out in the sticks though and it's uh really is quite nice. Fresh scent of lavender cafe bakery. Picked myself up a pan shakala. Legs are warming up a little bit. They're uh they're drilling it this lot, but it's it's okay cuz I'm just sucking wheels all day. Was that just for commuting? >> No. Okay, now we have ourselves 60 km of smooth rolling South African tarmac through the countryside, I guess you call it, and then we have one final climb and then we're descending to a car. Sun started coming out. It's getting hot on my back and I burnt my forehead. You know this helmet here? It exposes my forehead and I forgot to put cream on there yesterday and I burnt like a [ __ ] Okay, now you're stripped. Oh, no. It's a It's a full arrow suit, isn't it? Are you prepared to suffer in the wheels now for 60k and then suffer up the climb and then relax in the descent? >> I'm not suffering. I'm I'm going to be in front. >> Yeah, he says that. He says that we'll both be sat the back whining. Little [ __ ] >> It's crazy, man. with these on the front [ __ ] steam trains >> like tractors. They're all [ __ ] far superior cyclists. It's I always seem to end up cycling with people who just miles better and I always suffer because of it. But it is what it is. At least it's a good way to get stronger on the bike. >> Yeah. Yeah. It's a set program. >> Heavy bike. That's heavy. Yeah. That's I do this to train more. That's why I have the heavy bike. >> It's like handicapping it. >> Yeah. >> You have to push 10% more watts just to move at the same speed as everyone else. >> Probably more than that >> cuz the bottom bracket is like almost broken as well. >> Steady, steady, steady. >> Way above the clouds. Not been able to film too much. Just been on the back of the steam train that these have been doing. We're approaching a climb called B's Club which is going to be pretty beautiful. Seen Sack and Brian descent down there on a video last night and I am excited to get up there. Not too bad, eh? >> Have you ever seen a leopard up here? >> No. >> No. Okay. There's a sign for leopard today >> on the descent. You wouldn't even be able to catch us. It's just the climb that I think I struggle with. The road surf is like perfectly fresh tarmac similar to Spain. Beautiful, man. Not nice as Stop. Rather be cycling in Stockport. That's the place of real divine beauty. I feel loud in my bottom bracket or my legs. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Thank the Lord. We're at the top now and we get to descend, which I'm excited for. I need to rest my legs a little bit to be honest. They are cooked. Heat. Heat. Take your money. Garrett's just absolutely parked it. >> He done all right to be fair. There's a massive gutter here. No one's hurting themselves on the top. >> Feels okay so far. I reckon the adrenaline's still coursing though. >> Give it another five. Little petrol station stopped. 100 km in now. 20k to go after this. That descent was beautiful. Just a shame about the crash. But is up and moving. So hopefully it is okay. You never know with this stuff if it's just adrenaline and that coursing through the veins at the moment. I want the cream soda though. Oh lord. We are not too far away from the car now. 10 km to go. Oh god, I'm cooking. G is clocking 34. I'm not having that. It's not that hot. But it must be high 20s and it feels so dry. It's a It's a different kind of heat out here. But yeah, nearly there now. Unbelievable ride. Massive thanks to the guys who have showed us around these last couple of days. It's uh it's been amazing. And there's no way I'd be doing this type of riding by myself. So yeah, if you you come to Cape Town with your bike and want to meet some likeminded Donny's, uh get on to the clubhouse on Main Street. It's a banging gap from the people at Top Thro. I'm on the step. Go on. Let's see the damage. How bad is it?
