Thanks for watching!

Five things you definitely shouldn’t do with fish and chips. In at number fifth is something that might surprise you. Even though chip shops offer different types of fish, four in every five British people choose exactly the same order. We got cod and chips because cod is the best fish. Number fourth is something we learned the hard way. Finding a decent fish and chip shop isn’t that difficult. So, if you arrive and find a queue longer than James Milner’s career, it’s almost certainly not worth the wait. 37 minutes for these fish and chips. Third place is a question that immediately tells people you’re from out of town because there’s certain products that chip shops down south refuse to sell. Do you do gravy? In at number second is another strange rule. Crispy fish is not supposed to be eaten dry. So, if you do manage to get hold of the magical brown liquid called gravy, don’t be scared to pour it all over your fish. But top spot is something you’ll thank me for later. Don’t even dream of ordering fish and chips in this restaurant. Eight chips. You’re joking.

  1. You do what you want. No right or wrong. Give them all a go without preconceived ideas & you'll find the combos you're happy with.
Ignore the "oh, you've got to do it my way or it's wrong…" doomsayers. All part of the fun to try new combos.
Brit, eating fish & chips for over 50 years & still finding new fish & sauces to try.
Tip: If your seaside chippy offers catch of the day, then try it. Often cheaper too.

  2. £32 for haddock and chips joke we use a fish and chip shop in Mareham Le Fen fantastic cod and chips £6.10 they are cooked to order ❤❤😋😋😋

  3. Never put gravy anywhere near a fish. Even curry's a bit dodgy but more appropriate.
Fish with nothing on is gorgeous but
peas win every time as an accompaniment.

  4. Growing up in the 50s and 60s New England, we only salted the Haddock or Cod and vinegar and salt on the chips/french fries/pommes frites. I never have nor have I saw anyone use tartar sauce.
