welcome to Brighton my [Music] hometown often referred to as London by the Sea Brighton is just 47 m south of the capital and only an hour away by train making an ideal day trip destination whether you’re seeking a relaxing day on the beach a Scenic hike on the South Downs or a chance to explore some of the quirky attractions Brighton has it all the city’s famous Lanes known for their Bohemian Vibe are filled with great coffee shops unique art stores a variety of restaurants and vibrant street art that adds to the city’s eclectic [Music] charm when you arrive at the station you’ll catch a glimpse of the English Channel Straight Ahead that’s if you got good eyesight from there it’s just a 10-minute walk to the huge pebbled beach as you approach you’ll be greeted by the iconic West Pier which tragically burnt down in 2003 though only the shell remains it provides a stunning backdrop especially during the summer sunsets but don’t worry Brighton Palace Pier is still standing strong offering plenty of fun of its classic 2p machines arcades and a bunch of fun theme park rides too come on this pier is one of the most visit Ed attractions in the UK outside of London and if you were to lay down all the planks of wood it took to build this peer it would stretch for a distance of 85 Mi and that’s enough to reach France which is about 82 mi in that direction [Music] the prominade has a bunch of things to do one of my favorite things is to take a walk here especially on a summer’s day as it’s always buzzing and there’s always cool things to see you can get your classic fish and chips or eat in one of the many Beach fun restaurants there’s plenty of bars to choose from and if you are for a souvenir there’s gift and art shops Galore it also has a sea life sensor it is the world’s oldest aquarium okay I may have just read that on the side you can watch a basketball game tennis beach volleyball is that a real game there’s an upside downhouse which is great for those Instagram shots there’s often street performers and then of course the famous chip Thief although they are not normally this shy and there’s one attraction which is impossible to miss the Brighton i360 60 162 M High moving observational Tower it’s 27 M taller than the London Eye and the viewing POD at its highest point sits at pretty much the same height as the Great Pyramid of Giza it has incredible views over the city the South Downs the sea and on a clear day you can even see the is of white in the distance okay but maybe not this good [Music] [Music] I love the sea front Vibe on a summer’s evening it kind of feels like Venice Beach or perhaps even re the Janeiro so if you enjoy salsa dancing then you should head to the band stand on Wednesday night where anyone is welcome from beginners to the more advanced [Music] for the Foodies the City offers an abundance of dining options to sue every palette if you’re looking to indulge in fine dining and don’t mind splurging Flint house in the lanes or the little fish market in h are great choices craving something spicy head to mowgly in the lanes for delicious Indian Cuisine where you can even enjoy your meal while sitting on a swing for fresh seafood riddle and fins also in the lanes is a must visit [Music] if you want to view of the sea whilst eating oysters there’s also a riddling fins on the sea [Music] front and if you walk down the stairs from here you’ll find shelter Hall where it serves up a fantastic array of international street food from pizzas to Burgers not far from the station in North Lane the pond offers excellent Asian dishes including their highly recommended B [Music] buns not far from there the eagle is a great spot if you have a taste for Thai Cuisine for those who prefer traditional pub food or hearty sunde roast then put the geese into your Google and if you’re a fan of WEA spoon pubs then you’re in luck there are three to choose from in the area if you’ve indulged to the point where even walking feels like a challenge you can take advantage of the barrel bites conveniently located throughout the city there’s also a Scenic cycle path that runs along the entire Coastline perfect for a leisurely ride not too far from the pier you’ll find Historic vogs Railway it’s the oldest operational electric Railway in the world completed in 1883 the train takes passengers along the seafront passing a zip line the sea Lanes Lio with water heater to 19° all year round with nearby spots to grabb a drink or a bite to eat and as you can continue you’ll see the yellow wave beach volleyball courts with a cafe attached there’s the beach box wood fire saers complete with plunge pools and a fire pit a pretty snazzy golf course and then a noodle [Music] speech the line ends at Black Rock which is a short walk to the marina where there’s plenty of things to do you can catch a film at world eat at some of the well-known food joints whilst watching the boat sail in and out there’s a weather spoons TGI Fridays Cafe Rouge a Pizza Express and that’s just a few of them from here you can also book mat CW fishing trips and sightseeing excursions along the coastline and even a trip to the rampion wind farm which consists of 116 turbines that sit between 13 and 20 km away in the English Channel [Music] and just beyond the marina you’ve got the Undercliff path and that’s where I go on most of my runs it’s a lot more quieter than the other end of Brighton it’s got beautiful white chalky Cliffs it’s great for spotting seabirds a watching the Surfers on a wavy day and if you’re lucky you might even spot a seal what and if anyone tells you Brighton is just all Pebble Beach bring him down this end and you might find a bit of sand it’ll be a lot more quiet too ah headphones just fell out and when the tide is out you can still see the old track lines of a unique Victorian electric Railway named the daddy longlegs it ran through the shallow Waters connecting Brighton to rotting Dean between 1896 and 1901 there’s even an app which uses augmented reality to see where the daddy long legs would have traveled along the coastline you can even take a photo with [Music] it and did you know that roard Kipling lived in rosing Dean no not the guy that made exceedingly good cakes the guy that wrote The Jungle Book Live from that house behind me nestled by the quintessential English Village Green complete with a duck pond Kipling Gardens offers a serene escape perfect for those seeking peace and relaxation as you step inside the Flint W Garden you greeted by meticulously maintained winding Pathways that lead you through a picturesque landscape adorned with beautiful trees flowers and pagas at the far end you’ll find a traditional Bowling Green which doubles as a cro lawn another famous author also lived in Brighton leis Carol lived in this house here in kemptown during the summer months and he wrote Alison Wonderland just across the road from his home in Sussex square is a private residential Park of a unique feature a tunnel that leads directly to the seafront this very tunnel is believed to have inspired the rabbit hole that Alice Ventures into in the [Music] book about 2 minutes walkway is a space that is open to all although you may not know about it as it’s hidden behind tall walls and an intriguing gate keeping with the theme of children’s books The Secret Garden exhibits incredible sculptures and has a c where you can enjoy a drink and a cake sat amongst the art and beautiful gardens it’s open in the summer months on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. and not far from The Secret Garden you’ll find cemp Town a vibrant neighborhood with its Village F and Community spirit cemp toown is home to a variety of independent businesses cafes Lively pubs vintage and charity shops and diverse restaurants making a hub of local culture as you stroll through the streets there’s always something quirky or unexpected to catch your [Music] eye Kemp town is well known for its lgbtqia a plus community and it’s the heart of Pride celebrations every August the biggest in the UK after all Brighton does have one in 10 people that are lgbtq I a you know you get the [Music] picture Brighton sh is by verse 2.6% of the city identify as Jedi another great month in Brighton is May when it’s the Brighton Fringe Festival believe it or not this isn’t actually the cir to Cay and juggling extremely close to a child’s head is just one of my many skills but you don’t have to wait until May to see a show one of the oldest theaters in the country the theater Royale plays a variety of shows all year round a stone’s throw from Kemp town and you’ll find the Royal Pavilion it might look like you’ve walked into India but it’s in fact the former Royal Retreat for George Prince of Wales who then became the prince Regent in 1811 and then King George 6 in 1820 construction started in 1787 and it’s surrounded by beautiful gardens and furnished of pretty Swanky furniture and rather snazzy artwork on the same ground you’ll find the Brighton Museum and art gallery and not far from there AB won the Eurovision song contest with their hit song waterl at the nearby Brighton Dome rumor has it George had a Tunnel built all the way under the Pavilion Gardens which led to his mistress’s house but truth be told it only LED as far as the Royal Stables which is now the bright and Dome he was so unpopular and fat towards the end of his life he didn’t want to be seen walking above ground through the Pavilion [Music] Gardens if shoing is your bag then North Lane is the place to go leaving the Royal Pavilion Gardens you located right in the heart of the Bohemian streets lined with vintage clothes stores art shops jewelry stalls and my favorite snoopers Paradise a flea market full of weird and wonderful things if it’s a nice day it’s generally pretty busy but it’s a great place to people watch if you’re grabbing a bite to eat [Music] if you cross the main High Street you’ll enter the famous Brighton Lanes once the Hub of the old fishing town it’s a Warren of narrow twisting Alleyways where it’s quite easy to get lost if you don’t know the area the lanes are packed with restaurants traditional pubs Jewelers art galleries and a variety of interesting shops this is my mate’s place where I always feel like I’m being watched for some reason but he sure does have a good view from that rooftop [Music] a nearby highlight is Quadrophenia alley the location of the ct70s mod film here I am doing my best F Daniel’s impression once a year on the August bank holiday mods from across the country make their pilgrimage to Brighton reliving their youth all suited and booted P well of haircuts everywhere Parkers and hundreds of scooters lie in the seafront [Music] hey bab what dist [Music] from the seafront near the pier you can find a sightseeing bus there’s also a bus Which goes to Devil’s Dyke on the South Downs for 2 lbs each way it’s well worth checking out if you want to see some epic views whilst watching the parag gliders meet around a mimu or grab a well-earned drink after a long hike if you head West along the sea front from Brighton you’ll actually reach Hove although these two settlements are actually two different places they operate as a single entity there’s a l local joke that people from here will say hope actually if asked if they from Brighton it’s actually a nice place with lots of nice restaurants coffee shops and independent shops along the High Street there’s hve Lagoon where you can learn to Wi Sur and wakeboard Fat Boy Slim lives here and there’s a great walk along the prominade where you’ll find maroccos that sell some of the best ice cream in Brighton I mean hope actually and there you have it I hope you enjoyed this video and gave you some good tips if you ever visit Brighton or hve if you got any questions feel free to leave them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer them feel free to like And subscribe and I’ll see you on the next video cheers

Great video! I moved here 2 years ago and love it here. Spend some time in Snoopers Paradise and the Laines. Not seen Secret Garden so that’s one to visit.
Super informative and helpful video 👍
Correction: It’s George IV, not George VI. Guess I need to brush up on Roman numerals! 🙃
So refreshing to hear it referred to as the Palace Pier instead of 'Brighton Pier'.. Really gets my goat.
Volvería!!
