Hello, my name is Susan and I’m a 62 year old woman that retired and I sold my house and I’m traveling the world on my bicycle. I hope you will join me for my adventure. Thank you. Good morning. I um started a little bit late today. Um well, at least for my new time zone. started a little before 10:00, which would have been a little before 9 if I were still in North Macedonia, but uh rained during the night and I woke up and it was like I was in a fog or a cloud, something. Didn’t feel it would be safe to ride in that. So, I just waited and had a cup of coffee and a sandwich at the gas station cafe across the road, which was perfect. And now I’m headed to Kavala. And um it’s about 55 miles away. And there’s a few climbs today, but for the most part, it doesn’t really look like anything big. So should make it even with the late start. We shall see. Um and yeah, I slept really well. So I feel well rested. It was nice to be back in my tent and um starting to look at planning how to get home, how to get my bike home. And um yesterday I ran into a German couple, lovely couple, and they uh they were saying they just left their bikes at a bike shop to have maintenance done and then came back and picked them up a year later. Um which I don’t think I’ll start from Istanbul next year. So therefore, I don’t think I’ll do that. But it was an interesting idea. Gave me something to think about while I was riding. And uh so yeah, well I’ll let you go and I will check in later and hopefully at the end of the day I’ll be by the sea. There’s the Mediterranean up there. Woohoo. Nice. Well, I got in last night and uh forgot to record. I literally took a shower, put on my pajamas, and fell in bed. But I’m here in Kavala. I had planned to camp, but the place that I thought I could camp, I couldn’t find. So anyhow, I got a nice room with a view. Let’s see. You kind of see the castle over there. And then there’s a nice little church up there that was lit up last night. And I believe the water’s back over that direction. So, yes, I’ve been sitting here this morning trying to uh find a flight to get home and to figure out when I’m going to be in Istanbul. I have a hotel reservation and I was looking at moving the date so a little earlier because I’m going to get there too early and um but the prices are so much higher now than when I booked. So, um I think I’m just going to stick with my dates that are November 1st through the 5th and try to work around that. And I may be taking a lot of zero days between here and Istanbul because that’s like uh almost two weeks away and I really only have like six days of riding to do. So, uh so yeah, that’s uh that’s my plan. I don’t know. I may call the the hotel and see if they can work something out for me where they can change my dates without changing the price, but we’ll see. All right. Well, I’m about to get packed up and start writing. I’ll check in later. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Okay. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music]

Glad to see you enjoyed riding through Greece. 🇬🇷😍 I do my own, annual bike tours in Greece but mine are a lot further south, in the Peloponnese. Sorry to say I’ve never been to Kavala or that part of the country in general. 🫤
