1973 Chrome Paramount 'restomod'

THIS is the bike I use most in my rotation of road bikes. I purchased late last year from a friend in Las Vegas, shipped to CT, and began upgrades.

I'm 72 and ride 3-4 times a week outdoors and Zwift. Sound Cyclists Bike Club in CT.

Frame and forks OEM. Campagnolo Record drivetrain, Campy brakes with rr extension, and high flange hubs. Probably OEM Brooks seat, yet it has black rails instead of chrome. I dunno.

Restomods:

  1. New Velocity clincher 700c rims SS spokes and 30mm Challenge tires.
  2. Removed the OEM Cinelli drop bars. Realized I NEVER was down in the drops. Added Velo-Orange moustache bars with elliptical grips. SO easy to ride hard and safe.
  3. Added new brake levers and rerouted friction shifters up into the cockpit. Hands don't leave the grips.
  4. Crank arms: 172mm to 155mm. I have 29"legs at 5'6". IThis REALLY helps me pedal round. I purchased a backup Campagnolo Front chainring and crank arms (Ebay) and modified them. (I have the OEM parts should the next owner need them.)

I have over 1000 miles on it this year, and i actually rode my first Century (Seacoast NH) with an incredible 16.5mph avg. (Totally drafting younger/stronger others!)

It's testimony to it's enduring capability. 21lbs of 70's musclecar.

I have a couple of others to show in time. I restored 20 Schwinns! What an addiction.

Thanks for viewing.
