WEIMAR – Relax & discovering – A feature-length aerial film shot entirely by drone

Weimar is a historic city in central Germany, known as one of the most important cultural centers in Europe. It was home to two of Germany’s greatest literary figures, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller, whose works shaped the German Enlightenment and Romanticism. Their presence established Weimar as the heart of German classicism, and their legacies remain central to the city’s identity.

In 1919, the Bauhaus art school was founded in Weimar, marking the beginning of one of the most influential movements in modern design and architecture. That same year, the German National Assembly met here to establish the Weimar Republic, giving the city a key role in 20th-century political history. Decades later, the name “Weimar Triangle” was chosen for a diplomatic forum between Germany, France, and Poland, symbolizing European cooperation and reconciliation.

Yet, Weimar’s history also bears a darker side with the nearby Buchenwald concentration camp, one of the largest on German soil during World War II. This coexistence of great culture and great tragedy gives the city a unique dual legacy.

Today, Weimar’s residents often identify themselves as Ostdeutsche (East Germans) and take pride in their heritage. Unlike some stereotypes held in western Germany, many in Weimar view this identity as a source of strength, resilience, and authenticity.
