🚴 Cycleway Celebration Ride Report
The Cycleway Celebration Ride brought the city’s focus onto Cardiff’s cycleways. The event, held on Sunday, September 28th, at 10:30 am, featured a ride to the Heath Hospital and back, alongside various attractions stationed at ‘base camp’ outside City Hall.

Event Highlights
The ride successfully drew attention to Cycleway 1 and aimed to encourage greater use of the route. Organisers also used the event to nudge the council into action, campaigning for a more rapid delivery of improved cycling infrastructure due to the perceived slow progress. The event served as both a celebration of existing success and a demonstration that when good cycling infrastructure is built and promoted, it is well-used. A significant number of people joined the ride to help achieve this goal.

Attractions at Base Camp
A number of key organisations and companies were present at City Hall:

Next Bike Replacement Competitors: Two companies vying to provide the city’s replacement for Next Bikes attended to discuss their offers and demonstrate their e-bikes.

South Wales Police: The police provided a service for free bike security marking.

Pedal Power: They demonstrated their range of adaptive cycles.

Cycling UK: The organisation offered advice and support on all matters relating to bikes.

The event, which was promoted via the organisers’ website, featured several other attractions that contributed to the day’s success.
