Day 14 of our cycling adventure down the West Coast of France. Still in the rain and the wind, whizzing through Biarritz and on to another wet night to come, no chance of a cabin tonight as the site was full, so we had to face getting everything wet again.
Right, day 15. Singing from England to Spain. We’re almost there. So, as you might be able to tell, be able to tell, we’re getting slightly rained on here, but uh we’re going to take refuge in a little town in about 20 km time. Have an extended lunch and hopefully it’ll pass over. Uh we didn’t make it to the to the cafe just yet. We’ve had to take shelter under a tree. It’s going for it. Oh, yeah. I can’t see out of my glasses. All steamed up. Yeah, steam and rain. Safe to say we’ve got a little bit wet, so we’ve stopped. Coffee. Lovely. So, we had to stop again cuz I think we’re following the same raincloud that just got us. That’s my That’s my idea. And I got absolutely soaked going through that massive puddle that I didn’t realize was a puddle at the time. So, we’ve taken refuge in a little shelter thing. Well, it’s the doorway exit, I think, from a nightclub. Yeah, the back door. And uh we’re going to have some yakatori crisps and maybe a couple choppy chop lollipops. Big river. The police river. Hello, Dad. We have reached Cap Breton. Lovely little place. Going to find somewhere for lunch. It seems we stopped at the perfect time. Listen to that. It’s um You can’t hear it. It’s raining like It’s due like what? It’s due to that to do that all day long. We just found shelter and we’re very glad we did. So, lunch is on the way. We got a beer. We might be sitting here for a little while. Maybe we’ll have a few beers. Right, the weather’s holding off, so we’ve decided to make a little start after lunch. Got 50k to do before beer, which is our final stop before San Sebastian. Right. So this is Bong. There’s an old force up there. I think dad just 32. He’s bit way down there. Took off without me again. But uh lots of industry. Um and uh not my favorite place we’ve been in so far, but hey, maybe there’s some nicer bits to come. In fact, actually that that looks all right. But this is about 25k from our final destination for today. Right, we are on the river of Bayong and we’ve stumbled across this yard which is housing a famous ship replica called the La Amayani which um I saw on YouTube once. So it’s quite cool to see it in person just out a chance. But uh yeah, it’s a full scale replica of a 1780 French frig. They rebuilt it. It took 17 years to rebuild and it’s in it’s been in ship in refitted getting refitted for the last 2 years. Um and yeah, I just thought it was quite cool. So little video. Wow. Big boy waves. Funny. Go on, sir. No. The new key of Southwest France. Look at the pool. Oh, yeah. Woo! Let’s go. They look at you like, “What are you What are you doing? How dare you make noise in the tunnel? Very nice. And this is the little beach. All right, we’ve arrived at our final campsite. cheese crusty things. We’re trying to get rid of the the final snacks that we have left. Cattle on the wall for a cheeky cup of coffee. We are in Beirits and um yeah, might have pizza on site. Not too fussed about going into Beerit. Maybe we’ll wander in for a beer, but hey, last leg tomorrow and we’ll be in San Sebastian. That’s what we’re really well I’m really looking forward to anyway. So, pretty chill one tonight. Hopefully it doesn’t rain again. Right, dad and I are having dinner on the campsite. We’ve decided to just stay here cuz the weather’s awful. So, we got pizza. The weather wasn’t just awful. The heavens open. I I nearly started building a boat. I think I just saw lightning flash as well. So, we’re going to be staying here tonight. Few beers and then yeah, final chapter tomorrow.
