The Geierlay Suspension Bridge (Hängeseilbrücke Geierlay) is a remarkable feat of engineering located in the Hunsrück region of western Germany.
The bridge spans an impressive 360 meters (1,180 feet).
It hangs up to 100 meters (330 feet) above the ground.
The bridge connects the villages of Mörsdorf and Sosberg, with Mörsdorf on one side and Sosberg on the other.
Modelled after Nepalese suspension bridges, the Geierlay offers breathtaking views and an exhilarating experience for those without a fear of heights.
Visitors can start their journey at the newly built visitor center in Mörsdorf, which provides information, a restaurant, and public facilities.
The bridge is part of the 410-kilometer-long premium hiking trail that stretches between the towns of Perl, Trier (both along the Moselle River), and Boppard (along the Rhine River). Additionally, smaller circular routes and the “Geierlay Circular Trail” allow visitors to explore the area.
Cyclists can enjoy a 35-kilometer circular route that passes through picturesque landscapes, including the castle town of Kastellaun and the Gallows Tower near Mastershausen.
Whether you’re an adventure seeker or simply want to admire the stunning views, the Geierlay Suspension Bridge is a must-visit!
