Day 258. 51km (92,804kms 8yrs)
Accustomed still to tent life I woke at 04:00 but was cosy beneath all the blankets in the otherwise chilly cabin. Jana – my Brno host – had organised a stay with a friend just a further 50kms on so i didn’t need to rush.
After locking up the cabin behind me I descended to Brno dam which – having arrived in the dark – I hadn’t seen yesterday. It was a lovely, still spot with changing cubicles and picnic tables; I can see why folk want to spend a longer time here.
The glorious weather had returned; yellow leaves beneath blue sky, it was even warm enough to put my coat away and ride in just one layer. I followed the eurovelo for most of the day beside the Svratka river and train line, often on a leaf-covered trail right next to the tracks where a passing train would’ve been alarmingly close.
At Nedvědice I turned off the eurovelo to climbing gradually towards BlažNov. The sun was almost setting in a hazy sky as I crested the hill. I found Marie right on sunset, she welcomed me into her lovely home with a big meal and plenty of beers. She too likes to travel and is self-taught in English so enjoys hosting people through couchsurfing usually.
