In which I encounter a small snowstorm during one of the very first days of my bike tour across Sweden, Finland and Norway in northern Europe. It was cold and windy, but it was a beautiful day of bicycle touring… and I loved camping in my tent (in the snow) at the end of the day.

good morning Darren Alf here from bicycle tpro.com I’m in the forest outside of yuk Muk Sweden today and I’m going to cycle from here to the nearby town of galavar which is about 95 km away [Music] [Music] and just like that I’m in go Sweden looking for the supermarket now I want to snuck up on food it’s about I don’t know what time it is actually I think it’s about 5:30 at night I want to get some food and then cycle out of town I don’t want to speak too soon or anything but the wind right now is kind of at my back it’s like the best it’s been for this entire trip and I’m just flying up in the 20K plus per per hour here so yeah I’m I’m zipping along really nice um what time is it I’m trying to look it is oh it’s only 5:30 I thought it was later than that it’s only 5:30 so I’m going to cycle for like another hour or two and see how far I can get and then make camp climbing a pretty big hill here big for Sweden at least it’s got me out of breath I’m hot took my gloves off so it’s about 6:42 p.m. right now um I’ve gone well over 100 kilometers today um I’m probably going to cycle for another 20 minutes or so and then find a place to Camp I don’t know if you can see but all around me there’s snow on the ground just about I don’t know 5 m back from the road quite a bit of snow on both sides going up a hill now out of breath must put the camera away okay for [Music] for for okay so today was an interesting day I covered about I think 132 km um and yeah I am pretty far north I’m getting up there um it’s starting to rain so I’m going to make this quick back when I was in galavari I ran into this guy and he was telling me that he moved here to Sweden from Holland and when he moved up here he bought a house um he’s he’s married and has kids and just a short distance down the road from his house was this like old abandoned School building and he asked like I guess he inquired into like who who owns that place and what are they doing with it and apparently the city owned the place and they weren’t doing anything with it so he said can I buy the place and they sold it to him for one Crown which is like I don’t know 15 cents or something like that something ridiculous and so he has this giant School building now that he owns outright and he’s fixing it up and he’s turning it into like a community center for his village he lives in like a remote part of Sweden there’s not a lot of people around um which is probably why the building was abandoned in the first place but anyway so he said he’s yeah putting ping pong tables in there building a fire pit and I don’t know what else making some apartments or something where people can stay I just thought that was really cool okay guys that’s it thanks so much for watching I hope you enjoyed the video today if you haven’t done so already like share and subscribe make sure you read the bicycle touring blueprint if you haven’t done so already and you’re interested in learning how to conduct your own bike tours like I’m doing out here in Sweden the book The Bicycle turn blueprint will teach you how to do a bike tour in Sweden or anywhere else in the world so check it out you can get it at bicycle tpro.com or at bicycletouring book.com all right I’m going to jump inside my tent now cook myself some dinner and call it a night thanks for watching guys I’m Darren Alf from bicycletouring pro.com and I hope to see you out on the road sometime soon
