I entered a 40 km cycle race through the streets of Brussels, which I thought would perfect for indoor cycling training. This closed-road event starts at the Place des Palais and finishes at the world-famous Atomium.

I joined the 25–30 km/h start group, expecting a steady pace on my older bike, but the adrenaline kicked in and I surprised myself with a strong 33 km/h average speed. The race offered four staggered start times to match different rider levels. A light drizzle early on caused a few drops on the GoPro lens. I did wipe it a couple of times but wished I had done so more often.

This cycling video is ideal for turbo trainer sessions, endurance rides, tempo workouts, and virtual racing practice.

At the end of the video I have included the footage from the gathering at the park before we started.

Were you there & can you find yourself?

  1. I thought about cutting out the few clips where the water blurs out the picture. Decided that it wasn't too bad & it was a bit like getting rain on my riding glasses. Hope it doesn't spoil the video. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.
