Winterton is set to transform its recreational landscape as work officially commences on a brand-new, state-of-the-art pump track. The ambitious £120,804 project, spearheaded by Winterton Town Council, is now underway near the Winterton Community Pavilion on Newport Drive, promising a significant boost to outdoor activity and community wellbeing.
Designed as a high-quality recreational space, the purpose-built pump park aims to cater to all ages and abilities, providing a safe and exciting environment for children and young people to engage in cycling, scootering, and promoting physical fitness.
Beyond encouraging active lifestyles, the initiative is also expected to help curb anti-social behaviour by revitalizing a previously underused area into a vibrant and positive community hub. Plans incorporate extended CCTV coverage for enhanced safety and a comprehensive Biodiversity Gain Plan to improve the local environment.
The project has garnered overwhelming public support, with residents consistently highlighting a long-standing need for more diverse recreational opportunities in Winterton. Comments submitted during the planning process underscored the current dearth of inclusive, outdoor spaces. One resident enthusiastically described the project as “long overdue” and “much needed to encourage outdoor activity for the younger generation,” while another noted, “Winterton has waited too long for such a facility and it would be much appreciated by all children locally.”
Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat.
