jobs are disappearing across the UK faster than at any point since the darkest days of the covid lockdowns in March alone more than 70,000 people lost their jobs that’s 70,000 more families suddenly trying to figure out what comes next we left the UK for Bulgaria to escape that cycle but sometimes I wonder did we really escape the 9 to 5 grind or did we just move it with us people ask us all the time can I come to Bulgaria and find a job it’s a fair question but is it the right one join us on YouTube fresh start sticks since being in Bulgaria a lot of people have asked us whether they can come to Bulgaria and find a job since moving to Bulgaria from 2024 to 2025 three hundred well 250,000 to 300,000 jobs have disappeared from the UK market and that’s just the ones which actually noted um what what’s not noted the small companies the small businesses are going excuse the uh wind today because it is quite a windy day um hopefully the mics will pick us up pick us up quite well uh but yeah so um obviously a lot of people are looking for options and like you said um moving to Bulgaria is an option for some people yeah we didn’t come here to make money in Bulgaria no um but for but some people will want to come here to live and make money or maybe try and start a business I don’t know um everyone’s got a different reason why they move um to a country um and so you’ve got to find out what’s important to you so you move to Bulgaria finding work is not quite not as easy for foreigners um but however there is ways you can work in Bulgaria and make money while living in Bulgaria um and which are so uh obviously as a freelancer you can come to Bulgaria and be registered as a freelancer uh you would have to go to a government office to do that uh we will put some links on the description below as to where you’d go to do that uh the process to do that is um very quick to be fair probably uh 2 to 3 days um I think cause that’s how long it took us if we wanted to register as a freelancer as we have obviously um but also you just pay is it 12 leva yeah 12 leva yes nothing not much so we do ask ourselves whether getting up and working on the homestead it’s just as bad ha ha ha well it’s not no no way um I enjoy it um it’s for me some it’s uh it’s the kind of work that actually benefits you benefits your homestead your well being your welfare your safety and the people around you so whether it’s cutting down trees whether it’s gardening whether it’s doing your house up it’s going back to building um something for you so would you see that as a job or would you just see it as more of a lifestyle thing that you want to do lifestyle thing I think if you want to come to any country I won’t keep saying Bulgaria because for me it could be anywhere in the world if you wanna go and leave the UK and live in the rural area of any country outside of Europe and also inside of some parts of Europe and you need to be prepared to do the work to look after or pay someone no point of moving away from where you are at this moment in time is to get away from being attached to always paying for something always getting up in the mornings to cover a cost always get in the morning just to breathe that’s why you leave where you are at the moment yeah yeah true so um for us really on a um on a daily basis what does our day look like we would wake up probably about obviously now because we are uh sharing our experiences with you we are uh waking up a lot earlier probably about 6:00 in the morning oh man it’s brilliant I don’t something I don’t want to do in UK I know I actually went for a walk this morning for the first time for years and I felt good that it was so warm this morning as well yeah the fresh air the horses was outside it was amazing what I say to you you come to Bulgaria to work be prepared to take a bit of time out check out first of all come relax get into the culture yeah relax don’t come in be a slave mentally yeah or physically come here relax come with mindset like I’m coming to better my whole self my well being my mindset first did it then you first why you doing that network your local town if you’re in a village it’s gonna be a lot more harder definitely because you’re gonna find that a lot of business acronyms are not in villages yeah what you’re expecting anyway yeah it’s not there if you’re a plumber electrician then you got a really good chance of meeting locals even expats yeah and helping them and getting a bit of money look into the legality of that in visas it’s down to you how you do it and but you can find work that way as long as you’re fair and you’re honest with your work you’ll get work in that way if you’re a tradesperson yes definitely also yeah there is Bulgarian tradespeople yes employing British people as builders and labourers so even if it’s just I know a lot of you don’t want to do this but even if it’s just getting your feet in the ladder getting the company getting some working on your feet there’s loads of good Bulgarian builders who are looking for people who just wanna work and especially English they’re really good companies out there you get a decent money pay the bills get some income coming in and still survive in Bulgaria yeah without thinking oh my God I need income yeah so put yourself out a bit prepare to shovel a little bit even if you don’t want to I don’t care whether you’re a tech um person or your pilot just do the ground work and Bulgaria will reward you at some point and what I would say if you definitely are all about work which is nothing wrong about at all some people are all buzzing and and just completely charged by working whatever that is you don’t come to a real village move to a city and love Dev um so if you move out here you’re gonna be it’s not gonna be good for your mental state no unless you love working and digging and I’ll be honest with you um you call it work oh my gosh no I know no but I call it work no no I’m not gonna call it work but I’m saying I’m saying I was about to say but you did call it work well no not as I working but it’s not working I it’s different when you working I mean working for slaving for someone else corporation even slaving for yourself outside of your homestead that’s work I’ve always called it a project what I’m about to say is um but I picked up a chainsaw for the first time and I started cutting wood and I’ve I’ve in before that to fair before I got chainsaw I was using a saw and I actually started enjoying it I thought this is amazing I remember saying to Lane I was out there till like 8 9 10 11 o’clock at night cutting woods I know in the rain I was like Chris come in I’ve got to come in it’s freezing cold I was out there yeah I’ve got to do a bit more got to do a bit more dinner’s ready now I’ve got to do a bit more I started enjoying it when you working you don’t enjoy work and when you enjoy work normally wards are a different kind of reward it’s a reward of oh yeah I’ve got that bonus I’ve complete that project to get this recognition but once you’ve had it doesn’t it it doesn’t feel very um self fulfilling it’s not it’s for someone else yeah but when you cut in wood it’s for you it’s for your homestead it’s for your house it’s to build your project yeah and if you like that kind of stuff it’s not work you need to buy a country house and you will be busy every day yeah um if you don’t need the money and you’re retired then live in the countryside don’t live in the rat race if you want to make money solely for work and that’s what’s driving you please do not come to Conside you’ll have to call 0 800 I need help I need help at some point because you it will drive you crazy being out here yeah you need to go to busier areas yeah Sofia it’s quiet starsgora and maybe Popovo yeah possibly a little bit busier yeah which is still a town yeah but it’s a little bit busier so the bigger towns you know like Gona Oia Khovitsa uh places like uh maybe Dona Vanya maybe yeah bigger busier regions is what you need to be aiming for if you want the um busier lifestyle and you want a job yeah if you come to Bulgaria for a job change your mindset relax come here with open mind of what’s around you how people are the culture everything and then get to know the people get to know the locals like I said before and then within that look for your opportunities within that circle of people and if that circle is not doing it for you then you need to go into another circle or create a bigger circle around you and then you may and and hopefully find opportunities for what you’re into so the question starting this video was is it the right question to ask if coming to Bulgaria to find a job correct we’re gonna leave you guys to decide on that been very busy for me yeah very busy um like I said um but yes um and like you were saying you know what earlier when you were walking up to uh the the surprise that by the way guys you will see at the end of the video um none of this was planned we didn’t actually set out to do YouTube um we didn’t set out to come over here and show our personal life um we came over to Bulgaria to find and live a better life yeah uh to do things completely completely different I mean literally flip the coin and do it completely different and that is exactly what we’re doing so some people who would who may know us or some people who may not will think oh my God what are you doing that’s so strange it’s so primitive it’s so backwards it’s so um old fashioned but that is what we’re about that is what we’ve chosen that’s our choice and that’s what we’ve chosen to do yeah I’m to be fair and to be quite honest most of you who think it’s backwards are living a life which you’ve been programmed to like and actually want and because we went for all the and we should say like um information given to you through growing up for your parents for schools you won’t be doing what you’re doing in the first place and if you go to countries like Bulgaria Romania and you go into the outside areas you’ll see kids using chainsaws you’ll see kids um with awesome carts I saw an eight year old with an awesome cart going down the road with a donkey yeah and he had loads of wood on the back by himself yeah going up that the town to where he’s going with his wood and he had a chainsaw in the back and he was cutting wood by himself 8 years old there’s no one older than 8 years old he was tiny and he was operating an awesome cart with a donkey he had a ton of wood on the back and he was just going past me going rusty you know it’s a it’s not backwards it’s life skills those kids will outlive most of us adults out there and most of us in the west who think we know how to survive so um you know it’s not backwards it’s not primitive it’s how we should be living before you start running and crawling and jumping in cars learn to cut wood learn to start fire learn to grow your own food feed yourself close yourself keep yourself warm and then you can survive anything anything throws at you and I think that make you I think someone did say that yesterday I think they said the main things in life is sustainability and ah was it longevity or something I don’t remember sustainability creativity is it creativity well creativity is one of them definitely sustainability yeah and I can’t remember the other one yeah but you know what um even as an entrepreneur ourselves if you learn these skills it will make you a better person out there in the real in the the the different world I’m saying this is the real world out there the minute you leave our village or going to a city centre and you get that main road it’s a complete different system yeah and this prepares you for anything because I’m a tough guy in a sense I’m even tougher now than I was before yeah because now I don’t care about anything I’ll try anything and I’ve always been this kind of person but Bulgaria has made me and I I did a talk in the video earlier I went for a walk and I really put my thoughts out there in terms of I need to work more myself um I’m lucky enough to have a lane with me not all of you are gonna be like some of you moving here by yourself and Gabby have a single woman or man you know but I’m lucky enough to have Lane who pulls me back in when I start losing the plot or start thinking oh my god you know I’m a bit fed up because this is you know I start remembering where I came from and why I’m here yeah and I think once you and appreciating exactly you have here because it can be so much different we have left such a busy lifestyle um in London and also in Dorset um you know Dorset is pretty much just as busy as London it’s crazy you know so um you know we’ve left that lifestyle with the choice of coming yeah to rural Bulgaria yeah and I’m just doing it differently and we love our the country lifestyle we absolutely love it and we don’t need to um associate with anyone if we don’t want to yeah you know we can have the choice to go to Sofia and then go back out of Sofia and come back home and we love the people in Bulgaria it’s a fact we’ve all said that um yeah the people are lovely um there’s always good and bad in everywhere but you know we’ve met so much good people here Bulgarians are like and um we’ve got some we’ve met we’ve got quite a few good Bulgarian friends now we’ve never ever had in the UK yes we have got some very good friends in UK you know if you watch this video and but we’ve got some very good friends in Bulgaria very good network or and we can pick the phone up and they will be here and they will help us and likewise we’ll do the same for them so it’s a give and take in that situation but we’ve been able to adapt our life to new people in a way we couldn’t in UK and and but I said there’s good and bad everywhere we just got to live and sift through all the weeds and and just be once you’re in a community you learn yeah what’s good and bad and then you can and find your way through definitely right so guys we are shooting off to town hopefully you guys will come with us um we are as I said we’re gonna grab a few bits for the homestead and um yeah and first see you later and and you know what before we go this morning I woke up early I went for a walk and I was quite excited to get back and cut woods yeah I’ve never been in cut all of this today ask Elaine Woodwork is my worst subject at school school never um what’s the word um inspired me or yeah school never inspired me in anything like this now I actually love cutting wood and I hate woodwork it’s one of them mess lessons I didn’t care about and um now I love it and I’m it’s just I just love it it’s just I can’t describe it so you know what listen guys get out from where you are I am not saying comfortable Gary I’m saying go to where you feel comfortable go to where you can change your mindset live different life and be one with nature because before anything else before money before anything else you’re doing right now nature your family your kids your partner whoever it is your friends come first yeah then money yeah and your life’s gonna be much better that’s all I can say at this point yeah so guys we will see you later at the store from the last video I’m not sure if you guys remember but Chris was having a problems with the chainsaw we only bought it about 9 nine or so months ago we’ve just taken it down to the store that we bought it from because they are authorised repairers as well as sellers which is actually quite great for you guys those type of people are the best people to use to buy stuff because if you ever have a problem with your machine then you can take it back to the shop so Chris is literally I’m just looking out to see if he’s coming so he’s literally just at the store now I think the gentleman he was having a problem he took it there they changed the primer bulb then it had a a pet fuel leak he’s just taking it back to get it so sorted can’t talk today anyway uh yes so he’s literally just at the store now picking up the machine car and then we’re gonna take it back today guys in Bulgaria it is 22.5 degrees oh there we go hello he’s back ha ha ha it’s not ready until tomorrow oh OK so not gonna complain this is Bulgaria that’s alright yes I was just saying it is like 22 today in Bulgaria yeah 22 degrees would have never thought that it would be so warm at the moment it’s lovely yeah it is very nice don’t need a jacket or anything we have been out getting some prices for the work that needs to be done on the roof we will tell you later on how much we’ve managed to well tell once once the work’s done once it’s done that’s what I’m saying I’m not gonna say yet exactly yeah once they come and start the work and done the work will yeah take the cost out just so you got a idea of what to pay yeah and not being overcharged so now we’re just going over to to the main city Veliko Turnovo to get some prices for the some of the material it’s always good to look around for things like cement for sand and any anything else that you may need for well for us especially we need stuff for the roof and you know for the leveling off the floor and wood and things like that it’s best just look around and see what’s good so we’re literally on the way to Belichick turn over now right now you need a pair of sunglasses yeah it’s very sunny it’s very sunny not gonna complain no definitely not ha ha ha I can see oh my gosh ha ha ha I can see I thought I lost these glasses can’t believe it there you go there you go ready I can see I can see I can’t see the sea no that’s one thing you can’t see not from here anyway no yes the weather’s good guys I believe our turnover is quite good cool for um people to come to there’s lots to in the region there is lots to do and see yeah definitely go out and go for walks and obviously they have got the the main castle there I’ve got actually our main house the castle yeah when you come to Bleeco you’re gonna see our main house which is the castle and you go there and ask the king Chris they will know who I am oh my gosh yes so there are little um houses nestled in the um you can see it yeah exactly I’ve got a place called Abenassy which is really Abenassy Abenassy sorry I’ve got to say it right beautiful isn’t it yeah it’s a nice little spot you can go on the view the sunset’s amazing from there oh man it’s amazing and from there you can see over towards Turkey the mountains anyway towards Turkey Greece area yeah so um hey it’s it’s quite nice it’s very nice yeah you’ve got the Balkan range isn’t it the Balkan range the Balkan range from there yeah I think so yeah yeah it’s just getting made together with the Bulgaria one of those countries just strange shape and yeah just trying to work out where you are sometimes it’s like it’s mad yeah where in Britain you sort of know I guess where the head of the lion is is where the Black Sea is yes that isn’t it that and then the legs is where you’ve got Turkey and Greece that yeah and then the back top end of the back is where you got Romania and Serbia and yeah I think I’m kind of working out the geography now yeah I drive it but I just yeah it’s weird you’re driving normally obviously use the sun as a reference as in the morning coming up in the east and going on the west when you drive around sometimes because it’s so mountainous you don’t see the sun hmm and with the skies being as grey as they are in most days and you don’t see it again so the reference way when I’m driving no matter where I’m you I can almost tell you what direction I’m going in and just odd it’s difficult moment in Bulgaria it’s weird I’m sure what he’s talking about in terms of the grey skies he must be talking about the UK but anyway right ha ha ha we’re coming up to this is a little hotel well very big hotel actually in Arbanassi just been refurbished yeah they’ve just done that that’s it there being advertised uh but yes so you will see from this way into Verico town over that’s the little cave that we stopped at once yeah we’ll go we’ll go back again and yeah and yeah from this way uh you will see the main castle and um there is other touristy spots down below which is pretty cool yeah do have to be careful a long hair though because the rocks all a long hair they do fall away uh so yeah and the road has been closed before recently for a rock slide yeah so um oh look up there yeah that’s what you’re talking about those big boulders yeah big boulders one massive one there right above us oh my word so um yeah so they do fall occasionally especially when it’s really rainy season yeah um but yeah I bet there’s some people that don’t come that this way just because of that I know they’re scared I know you see some rocks there on the floor but but you can’t live your life in fear can’t live it when it’s over it’s over yeah so this is it a little bit Misty today but uh you’ve got the main castle there on that mound and then yeah Veliko Tarnovo spread across pretty cool day a little bit Misty I had the long way to the camera but they’ve I don’t know if they cut these trees away or it’s just the tree the leaves are gone yeah I’m moving now so so the last king of Bulgaria used to live in that castle there let me just show you that’s a rumor what is that oh yeah so that is it guys the last king of Bulgaria used to live there and now apparently the new king Chris is living there haha me I’m living there now oh anyway it is just a joke don’t no no don’t take it seriously OK cause I know some of some of you guys will be like don’t take liberties anyway right so Veliko Turnovo is um yeah it’s beautiful it’s um full of touristy spots even over there that is part of the castle isn’t it yeah it’s all part of it the oldest gold is found in this area and this is where you pay to go over there so what are you saying sir the oldest gold found in this area in Europe in the world or Europe live Europe oh really might be Europe probably yeah I can’t see the world we got Africa for that but yeah yeah but in Europe apparently oldest gold is found in Bulgaria hmm I don’t know how the oldest gold could be found in Bulgaria and gold is a natural thing comes out of the ground so how do you put a date on it is the oldest I don’t know but yeah anyway that’s the story that’s sp so quiet today yeah Monday isn’t it Monday oh see some landslides going on over there yep so now we’re going to be called town the we’re going to the um the main area where old most of the tourist hang out too fair Chinese Japanese and Americans Americans English English Germans lots of Germans here yeah there is oh visit um but the Chinese when they come you know where they are they got cameras everywhere yeah just like you see in the pictures and the movies yeah all the cameras tracks them they still use cameras not phones which are brilliant hmm um proper cameras it’s very quiet today though yeah and the weather’s really nice yeah I know it’s always the days I don’t think people expect it to be nice yeah I think that’s so they don’t come out now we didn’t know it’s gonna be this nice hmm I thought it’d be up a lot earlier I know exactly I enjoyed it but you thought it was gonna be rubbish and cold but yeah hopefully tomorrow’s the same yep so guys we have found hopefully someone that can do our roof um however they’ll be coming on Sunday um hopefully the weather will be good because they won’t be able to come and do it if the weather isn’t good so we’re just praying that the weather should be good and uh before we do that uh we are going to um go to a place called saga which is oh we missed that place that was in Don a don a a gonna gonna we got the way back back of it stay open later yeah it’s on the way back so we’re gonna go to a I think this place is called Shuk shukov shukov shukov something like that I will put it in the description below because it’s a really cool place um if you do want like discounted end of line stock um maybe things that have little imperfections you can find it in this place quite cheap so we’re gonna go and have a look there in Bulgaria you still see shops where as Polaroid advertised in that really yeah you don’t really see that in the UK it’s crazy Polaroid right so this is the main we call it the what do we call it again the gold the golden mile the golden mile yeah along here is literally where everything happens they’re gonna have Christmas um Christmas fair soon oh yeah festivals it’s really busy we’re actually gonna be here for this time yeah not with my green go to it but I could be here anyway yeah apparently it gets very very busy around that time yeah and there’s Christmas market we’ll do a walk around Christmas market yeah yeah definitely take the kids out as well yep and buy some doughnuts yeah they do doughnuts and stuff there yeah something to look forward to yep I’m not a Christmas person by the way he’s not well I’m very I’m definitely I’m more the Grinch yeah I’ll be the one walking around the green suit on I’ll happily do that all Christmas is that where the is that where it is yeah down there right so it’s normally in that part no no it’s behind it just behind it right OK yeah you know go down there right and left right OK so it’s behind those buildings oh OK in the park right behind it right OK we’ve probably got a driver in there one day yeah right yeah so so yes like we’re saying literally he is the Grinch yeah but to be honest we’re not about the commercialism of Christmas um family time you know being able to just have time off cause obviously businesses do close around that time and you do have a bit more personal time um when you’re not working when you’re working for a company to spend with your family should I go and change the money here yeah oh and for anyone that wants to exchange cash we normally do it at this little place here in the corner so just so you know the exchange at the moment is the best big company there hmm you know they got stuff in there from years ago they they got stored in big old warehouses over there hmm they can’t shift but they can’t dispose of it either oh it’s called sharkovin com shark of income or shark of income how old that metal is that’s cheap you can use it but it’s that’s old yeah it’s just cheap why you just got to sort it out it’s going to save you a lot of big tubs huh them Big Water things yeah I know massive oh wow well they got loads of tiles huh they got loads of tiles oh hehehe ha ha thank you so do it so work it there alright ha ha that’s how we buy us alright definitely one of them yeah for moving in that dirt for that power for them see that that’s look that one is 12 see for the big bucket that might want yeah I know what’s 17 exactly yeah so we get it here yeah and watch it here sorry guys ha ha sorry about the camera just then okay right so we are here sorry something in my eye right so we’re here at a shock off I think it’s called Shock Off at this place you’ll find cheap stuff for um yeah that’s maybe end of line or old or whatever for a lot less yeah so oh I hope so yeah I had some things we saw some tiles yeah like this rubber is quite expensive compared to the new one hmm but it is better quality so true I’ve got a I’ve got to say that but it’s a better built one than the one I saw true even the wheel is better yeah so yeah on this one yeah yeah but again it depends what you want to spend if it’s the that they are better quality but they are not me no ha ha so this bucket obviously we did see it for less for more yeah that was $17 yeah the bucket so yeah have a look at the task quickly yeah and then we can go in so we need to find some tiles for the kitchen area and also the hallway going into the house and someone said to come here because they have like a that’s nice that looks nice that’s nice that looks really nice and I don’t know about the kitchen the hallway no it’s not stolen the hallway it’s tiles yeah huh this is tiles hmm I think that house could be cold as you realize it yeah but we can put my uh carpet down one laminate better than the way then no laminate no but you’re going in and out with wet feet no but the old the entrance bit can be like that yeah but love tiles could be kind of cold yeah in the winter time I just realised that now from but you can feel the cold yeah true it’s very cold but the outside inch bit that could be like a wood effect to the yeah the wood inside true and that look nice in the inside bit inside that’s where you take shoes off and coming yeah true true because you put tiles inside it’s nice but it’s gonna be kind of cold old so you’ve got hmm are they nice no I was looking more like this for the bathroom for the for the kitchen no that’s that’s a bit no that’s a bit oh that’s nice yeah I’m looking more like yeah outdoor indoor floor yeah for the kitchen it’s only five love each yeah got five no 10 left for the box for the box oh yeah and got one two three four it’s not enough is it I don’t know oh they got more over there yeah we got more we have to let you buy them now because some of them sell out they don’t have anymore and they got bigger ones certain areas like from the small ones on the outside yeah the big ones inside oh they’ve got loads of big ones so you could just go with the big one but when it’s out of stock it’s out of stock so you have to buy enough now right because it may not get that stock again it’s like yeah my mum um you know just what they got yeah yeah yeah a lot of yeah so this might be it’s loads yeah it’s good they they were sold out because remember weapon what do you think and then I’ll get a box extra spare how much these ones 12 all those are more 1299 six left €6 hmm what do you think how much I have would you prefer this or would you prefer this is nice isn’t it it’s more it’s like stone yeah yeah got small crack in there but that crack no that’s how the thing is ha ha is it yeah that’s how it is it looks like a crack look like this way I like this one it’s outdoor indoor yeah kind of cool hmm use
