I just found an island that’s 99% Muslim. I just came to Cyprus and it is nowhere like I’ve ever been before. Firstly, we’re off for breakfast. There’s this cute little spot up in the mountains. Let’s go. Look at this view. It is just stunning. First, they served us some halal shot. It is just rose infused milk. But it was actually really delicious. This breakfast looks incredible. So many choices from olives, honey, cheese, jam, eggs cooked three different ways. Halal sausages, bread, pastries, Turkish tea. Oh my god, yum. Now it’s time to pray. So this mosque is actually where seven companions of the prophet are buried. Apparently in the 7th century they brought Islam here by boat to this very shoreline. So they built a mosque here in their honor. Apparently Cyprus was the most sought after land in history. Over 20 empires have owned this land from the Egyptians, the Romans, the Greeks, Bzantzantines, the Ottoman Empire. Even Britain has owned this land at one point.

You got it all wrong. Cyprus is a Greek Orthodox country. But it was invaded by Turkey in 1974 and since then, 37% of the island’s territory is illegally occupied by Turks, who are Muslim.
