Ahmad Mulakhil, a 23-year-old Afghan migrant, has pleaded guilty to raping a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton in July, an attack that sparked protests in the town.
Mulakhil initially denied the offence but admitted it at Warwick Crown Court, though he still faces trial on additional charges of rape, child abduction, and sexual assault.
His co-accused, Mohammad Kabir, also 23, denies kidnapping, strangulation, and assisting in the rape. Both men remain in custody ahead of a trial in January, and their immigration status has not been confirmed, prompting public debate over police transparency.
The case led to protests outside Nuneaton Town Hall and calls from politicians, including Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, for clearer disclosure of information about suspects.

Let’s uh talk to the senior fellow at the Center for Migration Control, Tom Jones. Welcome to the show, Tom. This is a problem, isn’t it? The rising tide of sex crimes uh either charges or convictions by asylum seekers, by migrants. Yeah, that’s that’s absolutely correct. Uh I think in the last year, foreign nationals uh accounted for between 28 and 34% of convictions for sexual assaults on women. um which means that they are convicted on average at a rate of kind of 2.24 times the average British person. Um and I think foreign nationals also accounted for a quarter of all rape convictions last year. Now it’s actually not particularly useful to talk about um these crimes in terms of all migration uh because the the profile of migrants who are committing these crimes is is very very specific. So Afghans and Eratrans for example are more than 20 times likely to be convicted of sexual offenses than British citizens. But Australians and Japanese migrants are actually less likely um than British citizens. uh to be convicted of sexual offenses. Um so there is a real uh difference in migrant profiles but obviously the um the people who are coming over on the small boats legal arrivals um have a profile that that is much more likely to commit these offenses. Well, the thing is Tom, you know, for example, the uh horrible case that I just cited, uh Afghani guy from Afghanistan, came across on a small boat, illegal migrant, broke into our country illegally, 26 years old. And as is our won’t we immediately put him into a lovely four-star hotel and started giving him 50 quid a week and free food, free uh doctors, free dentists, free lawyers, all that uh absurd generosity. We shower these people who break into our country unlawfully with god knows why. So we send him directly to Fulkerk. He got a nice hotel there. Walked straight out, raped this girl behind a pub. Uh got 12 years. He was absolutely enraged by that. But his defense, his actual defense in court was, well, I come from a culture where this kind of crime is not considered to be that big a deal. So essentially when you talk about the kind of migrants that commit these crimes, they come from cultures where, shall we say, the safety and the dignity of women is not so respected as it is here. Do you see what I’m saying? Yeah, I I absolutely agree. Places like Afghanistan, of course, famously, you know, the women in Afghanistan do not have a good standard of living because they are subjected to this and and they are they are viewed as as much less than than men. And by importing the people from those countries, we are importing the attitudes because you know we don’t have an integration system in this country. It’s not possible to integrate people at the rate at which they are coming into this country. And some of the uh views that these people hold are frankly I don’t think we should be integrating them into into our society. I don’t think we should tolerate that in our society. Um but obviously you touched on the difficulty of deportations and we do have to face up to the fact that this is not just a migration problem. It’s a migration in context problem and the context is that there has been a massive decline in uh convictions for uh sexual offenses, a decline in prosecutions, a massive shortening of sentences thanks to prison overcrowding. Uh so we have imported people into a system where we’re not actually criminalizing rape and sexual assault properly. Uh and then asking these people with third world attitudes towards women to conduct themselves accordingly. And you know we’re talking about poor Paulie Wally in Liverpool, you know, who said this Syrian guy, he’s then 19 years old, violently sexually assaulted her. Uh he goes to court on October the 27th, Liverpool Pratt Crown Court. Uh pleaded guilty to sexual assault, got 14 months in prison, suspended for 18 months. So in other words, he walked free from court. Uh my question there is, you know, a why didn’t he go to jail? And b why why don’t we what’s he still doing in the country? You know, we had Shibala Mammud’s alleged hardline crackdown, all these measures. How about this? Why wasn’t this in her list of uh crackdown measures? Uh that as soon as I don’t care if it’s sex or otherwise, but particularly sex offenses, as soon as you go commit a crime, as soon as you break our laws, particularly if it’s an egregious offense like a sex assault or rape, you’re you’re out. You’re gone. Why wasn’t that in her measures? Why is this guy still in Britain? Well, the reason he’s not in prison is uh actually largely due to prison overcrowding. So we judges but however he should go to jail. But why is he still in the country Tom? Well the fact is that Shabban Mammud and the Labour party are not prepared to do the necessary that makes it easy to deport these people. It’s actually quite difficult to deport people in this country. We do manage it occasionally but it’s very difficult because they are given cycle after cycle after cycle of appeal at various cases at various levels against various pieces of of human rights legislation which essentially are being used to keep foreign sex criminals in this country and at large and labor is not prepared to tackle that problem. Yeah. And therefore they are they are left doing basically technocratic uh reforms where you know we we pay them if they agree to go um but fundamentally it’s very hard to get rid of of people well uh I think we you know that that is the point and the ECR continued membership of the European Convention on Human Rights will always mean uh that these people will appeal and appeal and appeal and probably succeed if we don’t leave the ECR. It’s not the panacea that will cure our entire migrant crisis, but it is the absolutely crucial starting block to solve the crisis. If we don’t leave the ECR, it’s all a waste of time and it’s very, very worrying that there are more and more sex crimes being committed by asylum seekers, these people who break into our country illegally.
