I’m back next. Yeah, I’m sorry. Yeah, don’t let wash a favorite vlog. I will never forget that. New bike day. Well, it’s the bike that we used in the tour. So, it’s the new S5. It’s more arrow and a little lighter. And it has a new paint job, which is the best part. Had to put all the new clothes on the top of my car. Yeah, cuz there’s so many until I find room in my apartment. It’s my storage. Show you this. It’s my rag. An old Yumbo shirt. can show you. My girlfriend and I just bought her a town bike. That’s her new bike. Oh, really? Yeah. What What’s the brand? No idea, actually. I think it’s a Pujo. Old Pujo bike. Haven’t tried this new bike at all. Feels the same. Oh, we’re missing it. Yeah. Yeah, I’m going to head out of Nice along the water through the port and then we’ll go up through Park Deon Boron which is like my my favorite way to start and get out of Nice. That will take us up to the Moyan Cornesh and from there we’ll go uh across like a little side road to Coldz and then we’ll do the last part of ColdZ which is usually the way that that I get out of Nice. It’s my preferred way to ride you do more often. Yeah. Yeah, almost every day. Let’s go. Yeah, let’s do it. top of cold air. Lovely. Really nice. This is why you live in Nice. This is exactly why I live in Nice. This climb, this is like the quintessential Nice climb. I have the privilege of coming up every morning and seeing this, having sun in my eyes. When you choose to live in uh in Nice, what was the the reason you were like, “Okay, there I want to go.” Uh it was just practical. I had a I had my childhood friend Will Barta lived here and I moved in with him. It was just easy cuz I already lived in France. I was on a French team that year. I didn’t really know that it was like this, but I never really wanted to leave once I came. And yeah, it’s been 6 years in East. How’s your French now? It’s good. Yeah, I want to improve my writing especially cuz I think orally I can speak really well, but then if I ever need to write something or speak formally and grammatically correct, it’s not uh I mean, I can barely speak English grammatically correct. So, uh, yeah, I’m going to French school in the afternoons. This is like famous Pernees climb and then the rest of my ride is going to be away from Pyrenees routes. The last two days in of Perne, I they’re all these roads that I train on every day. It feels like Pyrenees is my my home race and I I don’t know. It feels different than the other races. I don’t think you get bored of the hills, right? No. No, I really don’t. After 6 years, I still ride this whole climb looking to the right, almost crashing into the wall. It’s pretty special place. feel like a tour guide today, but this is actually just a normal Tuesday like really I do this loop like 4 days a week sometimes. It’s easy to take it for granted, but you can see uh yeah, you can see some really beautiful things. That’s the the start of the Alps. You can see actually the mountain with snow that’s in the distance, that peak, that’s Isla 2000. And uh when you’re skiing there, you can see the ocean, which is like their their main marketing uh thing. But that’s a place that I have a lot of memories. I’m barely ever forcing myself out the door in the morning. You know, it’s always calling. I’m very lucky and privileged to uh have this job and live here. Something I’ll remember for my whole life, you know, living here. after like a 3-hour ride. Honestly, my go-to fruit flies. Uh my go-to is to have 300 g of that is around a little over 100 g of carbs normal. Guess that’s 90 g. Depends a lot on the also I’m going to school. So, um I I think that my brain since I think in French for a few hours per day, I burn a few more car a few more calories than normal than if I was just sitting on that couch, which I would be during the season. So, like today, I come home and I’m I’m kind of in a rush. I have to leave in 20 minutes, so I have to make a quick lunch and then a walk um to French class. But normally, if I’m in the season, I would be like come home from my ride, make lunch very slowly and calmly and then sit on the couch for a long time and do some recovery uh activities. I’m also not uh counting all my calories right now or using Food Coach the whole day, but I still when I’m cooking a meal, I like to use um the app to make sure that I am getting enough uh carbs in, especially when training. Are you in good shape? I like to cook, but I’m not a good chef. At least in my own opinion. I’m having yoki and I’m going to put eggs on top and I’m probably going to put kimchi in it, which is uh I think in Italy I could be arrested for that. We blocked this video in Italy. Yeah. Good. Well, just don’t Yeah, don’t let Adido watch. Also, if you were wondering why I don’t have a backsplash in my kitchen, well, there’s a few reasons. The main reason is I’ve uh really neglected installing one. I’m pretty lazy and don’t want to like make all the calls in French to install a backsplash. But the funny part is I bought this apartment a few years ago and in the US it’s really like normal uh when you like buy a piece of real estate they leave the kitchen like intact cuz it’s like kind of part of the uh part of like the house. But in France that’s not the case. They took everything. So when I came in here there was no stove, no like no dishwasher, no fridge. They even took the tiles from the back of the fridge. So, I still haven’t put on new tiles. And I think it kind of looks a little bit uh I don’t know, chic, you know? That’s vibe. Yeah, some like exposed rock there. It’s kind of nice. It’s like industrial. That’s just what I tell myself. It obviously doesn’t look good, but God, is going to be so pissed. This is ridiculous. I’m sorry all the Italians, but this is what I’m eating. Napoleon Bonapart lived in that building right there. Fun fact. Yeah. I can be a part of those 5 months, 4 months. I can’t legally be here more than 6 months. So, the rest of the area in the US traveling with the team sometime in the US, but a lot of time with the team like training camps and races. I mean, I have three monthlong altitude camps. That’s 3 months gone. And then you do two grand tours. Those are two more months. And then you do some other races. And yeah, there’s uh let me see four pro cyclists on the world tour level that live within like 50 m of me and they’re all American. Uh Will Barta lives right over there. Neielson Palace lives like in the building right behind this one. Kevin Vermark lives um like in the building next to his. So like two buildings that way and then I have a roommate here, Sean Quinn, who lives with me inside like in this neighborhood. That’s that’s all there is. We ride out together often, but we’re not often here at the same time. Feel like I’m the only pro cyclist that’s already back training cuz I took my off season so early. I’m American, but I hate getting in the car to to go everywhere. So, the reason I moved to the center of Nice a few years ago is because I wanted to walk and it’s good for bone density. The past two offseasons, I tried to start running and since I never played a running sport as a kid, like like I’ve been riding a bike since I was 6 years old. So, my body’s never like adapted to running. So, when I try it’s like I’m immediately injured. I have to take it so slow that I think I would need like a a year of buildup before I’m able to like actually go for a run. So, it’s like not really possible with in a 1 month offseason to start running for me, but I would like to. And once I’m done like road racing, I will start running. Probably take a year to figure out how. Then we can see you and stuff. Probably not. I have to go in like 5 minutes, but I’ll send you guys the location of my French school and you can meet me around there. Well, I had a I made a new friend this year with Victor. What can I say? We need Mateo. Mateo, please come see me. I’ll show you the pose, though. You know the slide. What an intro. What an intro. He used to be a I would say a semi-eneemy of mine in the Pelaton. We were not getting along. Uh in the past, I just didn’t know who he was. And so when you don’t know someone and you are like tense with them, you it’s like much easier to make an enemy out of them. And then once I got to know him uh from like the first team days last November, I he completely tore down all of my defenses and I was yeah, he’s now a really close friend. Um doing the vlogs and like we were just like two boys on a on a trip all year getting to to live our dreams together. It was just really Yeah, it was a really cool unexpected friendship. And the best part about the vlog is that he would never tell me we never script anything. He never tell me anything. He would just find me on the bus somewhere and pull out the camera and like surprise me with the camera and I would be kind of like in the middle of doing something every time and it just worked perfectly. Always surprised me when you catch me with the vlog. It’s It’s nice. It’s good. Uh I’m never expecting it, but then the camera’s right there. It was really cool. Well, and the Walt we did it, too. So, a favorite vlog? Well, I will never forget that. I will never forget that we we called out um Yan Urick. Yeah, Yan Urick. And Victor comes out with this story. I have a small fact for you. Did you know the rumor is that Yan Uri when he was in offseason, he puted a jar of Nutella in the microwave and then drank the jar of a completely unverified fact. I was like dying of laughter cuz I thought Victor just made it up. It sounded so ridiculous that I thought he made it up. And then I asked Yanurick to respond to us on the blog to to tell us if it was true or Victor was lying. And the next day, Yanurick put on his story like video responding to us and drinking up jar. And for me, I will never forget how far the vlog can reach from that. That’s like ridiculous. What are your hobbies outside of cycling? I like to knit. I like to read. What’s your current uh knitting project? Uh it’s a hat. Hat. It’s a hat. Yeah. I actually started it in the VA and then I screwed it up like halfway through and so I unraveled the whole thing and I just started like two weeks ago again. It’s going to be a yellow beanie and hopefully it’s done by like December camp. That’d be nice. I can wear it with the team. Can we see? When it’s done. Yeah. It’s not done. Well, when it’s done. Yeah. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. So, I think we had it all. Or do you have the feeling we missed anything? No, I don’t think so. It was quite long, but I think not possible to miss anything.

I'm french and living close to Nice, and no its not normal to leave with the kitchen when you sell an a house lol Great episode 🙂
Threepeat on Paris Nice this year. Especially if Campenaerts is there again to put so much hurt on the peloton.
really lovely colour grading on this video
Awesome..love the new paint.
When he retires someday he'll not only have a fine palmares and nice bank account, but also 2 foreign languages under his belt. Good for Americans to immerse in a foreign culture like Matteo does.
A day in the life with the SEXIEST cyclisy
The video with Matteo Jorgenson is just fire! You always prove how strong and incredible your team is. I admire you so much and truly love Jumbo-Visma. My dream is to join your team one day 💛🖤✨🔥💛
we love matteo
The exposed kitchen wall + cooking humidity could be a problem.
Good to get to know the riders better. I always thought if I had ever been good enough to be a pro back in the day Matteo most resembles what my cycling style would look like. Nice bloke. That was pretty interesting hearing about french properties selling with the kitchen stripped out.
excellent video. I hope for Christmas Matteo can get a new backsplash. Looking forward to 2026 season!!!
Everybody loves Matteo
We need more content just like this! Well done!

What a chad.
That thwack crack in the back sound track is irritating to me.
Fav rider 🎉
Almost didn't recognize him without the mustache!
Matteo has an understated charisma and confidence that's fun to watch. I think you can also see it in the way he rides.
A native speaker who admits laughingly that he can barely speak English grammatically correct! 😍 Matteo, I'll be a fan for life!
💗💗💗
Le plus simple des top
Cyclistes du peloton ! Merci Mateo
matteo I will do your backsplash next time I come to ride in NICE, I loved my time last year.
Love watching him race. A great talent – and judging from this video, a charming, decent guy. Thanks for the video!
The filming on this was awful. Why didn’t keep zooming in and out and jumping??
Best character in the team, but you can't disrespect the gnocchi that way!😂
Lovely, a deserving pro athlete ❤ Lots of other interests and appreciative 💪🏽🧠♥️
I saw that Argon and Canndondale in the quiver Matteo 😂
We want Pogacar content!!
Awesome clip! Thanks for sharing the day and life as a US pro cyclist living in Europe. Very cool! I’m an American and passionate cyclist who relocated to the German speaking region of Switzerland in 99 (residing in Bern, Zurich, Chur, & now Thurgau). Fell in love with the European culture & terrain in 1990 while studying in London and realised then that I’d return before too long. It’s fascinating to hear about other Americans and their personal experiences, such as yours! Best wishes throughout the holiday season and lots of success in 2026!
