This is how to spend 24 hours in H Highidleberg. First stop is going to be this bakery that translates to time for bread. They have amazing pastries as well as sandwiches. So, I had to pick up my favorite cardamom bun. Next, you’re going to go to the Church of the Holy Spirit. They have this prayer wall where everyone can write a little note regardless of your spirituality. It’s fun to write out your thoughts. Next, I recommend either taking a self-guided or guide-led walking tour. We opted for self-guided as we wanted to explore on our own, see what we find, and have flexibility with our time. After a walking tour, you’re going to head to the old bridge and walk across as you look at the beautiful views of the castle. Right across the bridge is the entrance to Philosophers’s Path. Same philosophers path. Hidleberg actually has the oldest university in Germany and its professors and philosophers found this path a great place to talk and contemplate while enjoying beautiful views of the city. You can do an entire loop around and then head over to the castle. You can walk up or take the finicular up, which is super easy. We did a guided tour of the castle. I highly recommend this. The castle itself has gone through so much destruction that it’s really hard to visualize the history and opulence of it all. And the tour filled in all of the gaps, and we even got to go to private rooms that are not open to everyone. The views from the castle are so beautiful. So, I recommend coming here at sunset time so you can watch the sunfall over the cityscape. There are so many great restaurants in H Highleberg. For dinner, head to Palmra Gas and get some spatzel. And that’s it for 24 hours in H Highleberg. Save this video and follow guide to Europe for your next trip to Germany.
