  1. Supposedly, Elizabeth executed Mary Queen of Scots because there was a plot to kill and dethrone her.
However, it's always been debated whether or not Mary was a willing or knowing accomplice.
Supposedly, there were letters that incriminated her and that is why she executed her
But if I remember correctly and I may not These letters disappeared through time leaving it still unknown if she was willing or knowing

  2. Mary didn’t really have any intentions to overthrow Elizabeth. She only went through England to reach its shores & go to France & did so against her entourage’s advice. She was caught. Elizabeth loathed the idea of executing her, that’s why Mary remained on house arrest, or prison if u will, for nearly 20 years. Mary was easily manipulated & took part in a scheme to dethrone her cousin, only bc she wanted to be free. That act of treason compelled Elizabeth to order her execution, as a political act , even tho she knew all along that Mary didn’t have any true inclination to threaten her reign. Mary could have fought the sentence in a lengthy tho futile legal circus. But instead accepted her fate & made a pact with Elizabeth who had no heir to her throne: Not trial & be executed rapidly. In exchange, Mary proposed a deal, for Elizabeth to name her son as heir to the English throne as well as king of Scotland. Elizabeth accepted the idea & thats exactly what she did.

  3. William Cecil, Elizabeth' s highest advisor was the one who came up with the death warrant for Mary. Not Elizabeth. Elizabeth allowed it as she was Monarch but women gotta stop blaming women. It was Cecil. šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™‚

  4. Elizabeth had no choice. Mary would not stop with the murder plots. Cecil and Walsingham both found all the numerous letters Mary had from assassins which incriminated her. Elizabeth did what anyone who needs to protect themselves would do.

  5. Mary of Scots plotted to assassinate Elisabeth to took her throne. She killed her husband before. Her son dedicated his Bible (King's John Bible) to Elisabeth.
