Here’s a rewritten version of the article. The cycling world’s wildest predictions for 2025. Did we get it right? Last January, I set out to make some bold predictions for the 2025 cycling season. And boy, did I have some surprises in store. As a cycling enthusiast, I couldn’t resist the annual tradition of trying to guess the winners. But with Tad Edge Pogar dominating the scene, it’s getting harder to come up with anything truly original. So instead of sticking to the usual, I decided to take a leap of faith and predict some of the more outrageous outcomes. Let’s see how my crystal ball fared against the unpredictable nature of Pogas reign. Prediction number one, Tom Pitcock shocks the world at the Vela Espa. I had high hopes for Tom Pitcock and I wasn’t alone. Many believed that if he fully committed to road racing, he could make a significant impact. And boy, did he. His surprise move to Q36.5 was arguably the best transfer of the 2024 to 25 season, and he finally looked like he’d found his home. Pitcock had a stellar 2025 with his first GC win at the Alula Tour, a gutsy second place at Straba and completing two grand tours in one season. The big question was could he win the Vela. While Jonas Vinggard was in the race, I thought Pitcock might pull off a shocking victory, gaining time early and outlasting everyone. And while he didn’t win, he came close, finishing third and setting himself up for an even bigger 2026. Though he might never win the tour to France, he’s already making my predictions come true again next season. Prediction number two, Tad Edge Pogas cobblestone dominance at Paris Rubé. It’s hard to believe that Pogar Racing Paris Rubé was once considered crazy, but conventions are meant to be broken and Pogar smashed them. His debut at Rub was one of the best days of racing in 2025 and he almost pulled off the impossible. I’m convinced he could have beaten Machu Van Derpole at the car for El Arba, but a late wobble kept him from victory. Van Derpole remains the only rider who can consistently match Pogar, but only on favorable terrain. Let’s hope for a rematch in 2026 where Pog win won’t be so surprising. Prediction number three, Khloe Digett’s classic dominance. When Khloe Digot is healthy, she’s virtually unstoppable. Her pure power and unwavering conviction are in a league of their own with two world TT titles and three Olympic medals in team pursuit. I predicted a breakout road campaign for her in 2025 free from the tracks responsibilities. While she didn’t win the Northern Classics, her sixth place at Milan San Remo and eighth at Paris Rub show her potential considering her near career-ending crash in 2019. Simply seeing her back in the sports hardest road races is remarkable. I might have to copy and paste this prediction for 2026. Prediction number four, Pauline Faren Privot’s yellow jersey victory. Pauline Faren Privot’s announcement that she was targeting the yellow jersey after winning gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics was no surprise to me. She’s a force to be reckoned with and her move to Vizmissa bike was key to her ambitions. Her double win in the French Alps caused controversy, but PFP is a consumate professional. Now, predicting her winning another yellow jersey in 2026 won’t seem so far-fetched. Prediction number five, Primo Rogue Tour to France revenge. If you’re going to make outrageous predictions, you’ve got to go big or go home. I thought the cycling gods might deliver a shocking victory for Primo Rogley in 2025, paving the way for him to take the yellow jersey. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. After winning Catalunia and taking pink early in the gyro, there was a glimmer of hope. But after crashing out of the gyro and never fully engaging in the tour, Rogley finished a tid eighth, which might have been his last harrah. With Remco of Venipole rising and Florian Lipitz demanding space, Rogley might be sent packing to the Vela in 2026 for a chance at history. So, what are your outrageous predictions for 2026? Let’s discuss in the comments.
