Preview Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel Saint-Tropez, France 06/09/2025 Summer 27° Today we are walking in Saint-Tropez, a beautiful city on the south coast
of France. Join me for this peaceful and pleasant walk I hope that you will love this video ! If you enjoy this one, please make sure to like, subscribe and share my channel 🙂 and turn on subtitles for fun facts about the places we visit ! Thank you for joining me today, enjoy The famous dessert Tarte Tropézienne was invented in the 1950s by a Polish confectioner in Saint-Tropez and became internationally known thanks to Brigitte Bardot. The town is named after Saint Torpes (of Pisa), a Roman soldier who was martyred under Nero in AD 68; legend says his body was set adrift and washed ashore where Saint-Tropez now lies. Every May, Saint-Tropez holds a centuries-old celebration called La Bravade, mixing religious procession, historical militia uniforms, muskets and local costume, to honor Saint Torpes and its tradition of protecting the town. The market at Place des Lices takes place twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays), under century-old plane trees, where local farmers and artisans sell fresh produce, cheeses, olives, flowers and crafts. The word Lices in “Place des Lices” refers to a medieval jousting field (from “licences” meaning “place of lices/jousts”); before it was a market, the square hosted tournaments. Aside from the big Provençal market, there is also a fish market on the edge of the Vieux Port, where fishermen sell fresh local catch daily this gives a glimpse of the town’s centuries-old fishing tradition. The Citadelle’s hexagonal donjon was built between 1602 and 1607 by the royal engineer Raymond de Bonnefons to defend the town and coast against sea invasions In 1637, 21 Spanish galleys attacked Saint-Tropez but failed to take the citadel. This is one of the few marine cemeteries in France, with breathtaking views over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and the Bay of Les Canebiers Several famous people are buried there: for example, Roger Vadim, Eddie Barclay, Pierre Bachelet, the parents of Brigitte Bardot, and the painter André Dunoyer de Segonzac.
