The rain has been relentless across North Wales, with heavy downpours even forcing the Wigan game to be suspended last night — and it’s had a clear impact on the Wrexham AFC Kop stand construction. Despite the weather slowing things down, there’s still plenty happening at the STōK Cae Ras, including the completion of the new Wrexham mural, which looks absolutely stunning in person. I managed to get the drone up early this morning between showers for a quick look at the progress before the next phase begins.
In this video, we look back at everything that’s happened on the Wrexham AFC Kop site since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney arrived — from the installation of new floodlights, to the temporary stand sponsored by Four Walls Whiskey, to the controversial fan zone, and finally the pitch replacement and soil stabilisation work that has prepared the site for piling. The next chapter is about to begin, and soon those piling rigs will arrive to reshape the stadium once again.

It’s been absolutely pouring down all day. Proper cats and dog stuff. Some of you might have caught the Wigan game last night, which actually had to be stopped for a while because of the sheer amount of rain and standing water on the pitch. The weather’s been grim, and as you can imagine, it’s had a bit of a knock-on effect over at the cop site. But on a brighter note, quite literally, the new mural is finally finished, and it looks fantastic. There was a short break in the weather early this morning, just long enough for me to get the drone up for a quick flight and take a closer look around. Totally worth the soaked shoes. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] So, yeah, the mural looks brilliant. And as we wait very much at the mercy of the weather for those piling rigs to finally arrive, let’s take a quick look back at how far the cop site has come since Ryan and Rob first took over the club. We’ve already seen plenty of change here. One of the first major upgrades was the installation of the brand new flood lights, which replaced the huge old ones that had stood for decades. I filmed the whole process from the old towers coming down to the shiny new ones lighting up the racecourse for the first time. I still think they might have to be moved again once the new construction really gets going or at least adjusted if the club decides to add corner seating later on. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Next came the installation of the temporary cop stand and later its extension sponsored by RobMax Four Walls Whiskey. It gave fans who’d struggled to get tickets a chance to finally experience match days again from behind that goal. It wasn’t perfect, though plenty of supporters pointed out how exposed it was. In bad weather, it could get bitterly cold and soaking wet, but it still brought the cop back to life after years of emptiness. And of course, nobody can forget the controversial fan zone, complete with its admission fee that split opinion right down the middle. The funniest part, I’d actually changed my channel name to Rex AFC fan zone just a month before it was even announced. Talk about timing. I filmed the whole saga from the first bits of construction going up to the moment it was all taken down again. It was shortlived, but it definitely got people talking. [Music] The pitch installation is still fresh in everyone’s minds, having only just gone in before this season kicked off. That marked the real beginning of the new Rexum AFC regeneration era. And honestly, it kept us all entertained right through the summer. It also signaled the end of the fan zone which was ripped out as the work began. What I’ll never quite understand is why they tarmaced the whole area only to dig it all back up again just a few weeks later. Typical Rexom chaos really. Then in September, the site shifted once again as PO Connor rolled in to prepare the ground for McLaren construction. And as we sit back and wait now, it’s remarkable to think about everything that’s happened since the summer. A brand new pitch dug up and grown from seed. The temporary stand and fan zone dismantled. Old electrical cabling pulled out. And after weeks of soil stabilization, we’re now on the brink of the next major step. Piling. Yes, there’s been a short delay. But if all goes to plan, this time next week, we should be right in the thick of it. The ground shaking, machinery roaring, and the next chapter of the new cop finally beginning [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] So, here we are waiting once again as the rain lashes down and the sight sits quietly before the next wave of change. It’s hard to believe how much this patch of land has already transformed since Ryan and Rob took over. From the first flood lights coming down to the mural that now brightens the wall. Every stage has told its own story, and every bit of progress has brought us one step closer to seeing the new cop rise from the ground. The weather might be slowing things down, but make no mistake, the next phase is coming. The rigs will arrive, the piling will begin, and the skyline of the stock Kaiass will never look the same again. Yes, there’s been a short delay, but if all goes to plan, this time next week, we should be right in the thick of it. the ground shaking, machinery roaring, and the next chapter of the new cop finally beginning. Thanks for watching. Have a great day.

Mural looks awesome!
Pretty amazing how muralists can do that. Looks good
my guess is if they add corner seats in they'll run the lights along the roof.
Mural was very well done. Nice
I drive past the ground on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, that mural wasn’t there. It must of been done yesterday. That’s crazy how quickly it went up. Wow.
Looking good Wrexham!
Well done Tom! Thanks for the “more dragons”. 😊

Thanks Tom for knitting old and new together in this vlog. Can't wait for further progress on site.
I don’t understand! It’s been blue skies here all day! 😂😂
I love how the stadium light poles look like an extension of the arms in the mural!
Thank you for your wonderful work! I love your channel. I am wondering where I can find out about where last years Wrexam players are playing now. Is this a video you might consider doing? Or you know where I might look? Thank you again !!😊
Pretty cool ending!
I'm betting they knew that there was possibly some asbestos in that dirt, so they put the tarmac over the whole area to keep any from potentially blowing into the air. Maybe not, but that would explain it if they did it on purpose.
Is that s'posed to be…. maybe, Ben Tozer (?) on the mural …🤷♂ Hard to tell really, but the Lili Jones one is spot-on!
Walked down Crispin Lane to see the mural, yes in the rain. Was worth the trip though, spectacular
lots of complaints about the temporary kop- lots more once it was taken down.
Lovely video; thanks! ❤🤍❤
Wrexham is a force that can't be stopped. I'm in the USA, and I will keep putting my money in the pot till I pass from this earth. I've been enjoying all aspects of the journey and am loving everything about it, including the vid daily. I'm looking forward to seeing where the ride takes us!
Who's Balch?
Found loads of people fuming about "ICH DIEN" and the club "wasting" money on the mural. Can't believe the levels of misery people have to be in to complain about supporting a local doing amazing work.
What does the CPD means?
Mark my words – Wrexham will be in the Premier league, if not this year, it'll be next year

What a journey, incredible. Your dragon graphics are amazing and these updates are much appreciated.
Hi Tom, the mural art work looks fantastic. I can understand the delay with the weather as it's been lashing down this side of the Irish sea as well. Never mind we are getting nearer the next phase now which exudes me with real excitement. Thanks again for the great coverage Tom 😀👍⚽🏴🇨🇮👍
The artists who created that have some mean skills.
Fantastic mural!
Love the animations!
Thanks Tom!
The mural turned out fantastic. I wish I was that skilled. Quite an homage to the club's recent success, both men's and women's teams.
I forgot that the floodlights were installed by Rob and Ryan. Changes have happened so quick. The Kop will be up before we know it. I hope the weather starts to cooperate.
Have a good day 😊
It looks beautiful, Go Wrexham
that had to be some wicked rainfall for that new hi tech pitch not to be able to keep up with it.. crazy!
When other stands are replaced will all this ground preparation be needed?
I can't remember the Mold Road stand having to do this much work.
Id imagine the old kop not being a firm sound structure has a lot to do with it.
