Ronnie Renner Snow Biking in Idaho Backcountry

It’s not snowmobiling, and it’s definitely not motocross. It’s called snow biking, and it might be one of the coolest up-and-coming sports out there. The concept is fairly simple: take a regular motocross bike, slap on a snow mobile track and a front ski instead of wheels, and voilá…you’ve got a snow bike. To check out this new sport, pro freestyle motocross rider Ronnie Renner set out to test out the bike himself in some fresh Idaho powder. Needless to say, we think they’re definitely onto the next big thing. Check out some top moments from their session!

I’m Ronnie Ritter from Florida I’m a free rider who has found myself up here in the mountains riding this motorcycle that has been converted into a temper sled and it is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my life and I’m addicted to it and plan on riding this wave as long as I can I’m gonna rock it through the tracks fall off [Music] my name is Regan Sieg I’m 36 years old from Vernon BC Canada professional freestyle motocross ur turn now professional snow biker I guess I’d say pretty much consumed me [Music] my name is Brock lawyer I’m 27 Williams like BC Canada and I’m a krosno bike rider I never thought I’d ever get to check her off the bucket list but snow biking has brought me in the point where I could go ride with Ronnie Ronnie just kills it on anything with a dirtbike I’ve been a lot of places seeing a lot of things done a lot of things on my dirt bike and now to put this track and ski on the front it’s like game on for a whole new chapter so I’ve been asked a lot to compare snow biking to snowmobiling they both do separate things very well and they’re both their own sport you know snowmobiling has high horsepower long tracks they get around the backcountry climbs shoots and they get around very well the snow bike little less power one ski a lot more maneuverability and it allows you to get into places totally different and take totally different line choices there’s actually a future with this on the racing side of things too so even the Hammerhead competitive people can go out and do this thing just like snowmobiles or whatever even and I think my wildest dreams I never thought we would do what we’re at right now as far as big jumps the single ski being a pop back out of the snow I would thought you would just go over the bars but it’s just absolutely blowing me away [Applause] without all the sports that I’ve been around in you know this crazy career this right here has the most promise of anything it’s out of hand the possibilities are endless it’s not about hitting jumps it’s not about you know going big every time it truly is about riding with your friends out in the hills and just going on this epic adventure
