carrying stuff by bike is a lot of fun whether it’s by basket by rack important cargo or maybe just a beer whatever it is I think a rack and basket is probably one of the best finishing touches to any build people often ask me what are my go-to X Y or Zeds and one of the ones I get asked quite a lot are what’s the best Rack or basket for your bike so today I’m going to answer that question in a potential new series called I like it because or I like because because I like I don’t know somewhat dumb like that I imagine so here’s a rundown of my favorite racks that I’ve been using uh some of them are brand new some of them I’ve used for a very long time um but I want to share them with you today and hopefully you’ll be able to take some of from it now I’m going to share these in no particular order these are all racks that I like in their own right and I like them pretty equally uh so I’m just going to start with one that I had the most recently which is the V orange flat hat rack subscribers to the channel probably noticed already but I very recently got the biggest uh parcel from theow Orange uh they sent me the new nutrino uh and it is beautiful um and they sent me a box box of parts and things that I could try out um the the rack was one of the things that I’ve wanted to try of theirs for a while uh so when it arrived in the Box I was extremely excited now this is probably the one I’ve been using the shortest amount of the time but when it comes to racks a lot of it is the way it goes on the bike and I think that will show when I start talking about the different racks as we go along but it comes in a very small box basically this um you do build it yourself like almost like a flat pack Ikea rack but long-term subscribers of the channel will know that I get extremely angry and annoyed when you buy a rack or a basket or something to go on your bike even fenders or mud guards that don’t come with all the hardware that you need this on the other hand had more than enough hardware and Extras if anything when it’s actually on the bike itself um it one fits very sturdily and there’s a lots and lots of adjustments so you can put it on different bikes quite easily uh and I think once you’ve built it up from scratch for the first time um it will then be quite easy to then move it across two different bikes I don’t have any footage of this uh and there’s not even a pitch here but the two stanions that come off the rual rack itself you get four of those in the box so you can actually put an extra additional ones going this way uh for extra kind of weight not weight as in it will take more it’s stronger rack but it is quite small and compact so if you’re going to carry massive things it might not be the best kind of rack um but for smaller packages and your day bag and things like that your lunch it’s perfect for it uh but yes I’ve only used use this one for a little while uh put in backpacks on it and stuff like that mainly and I quite liked it and yes to the people have noticed I have added a charge spoon to the bike obviously it was going to happen eventually um and uh I put some nobly tires on it but I’m going to hold that for another video because we are going Mountain bikeing on it very soon uh and uh we have lots to talk about the way it rides next rack [Music] next we have the Edson coffee rack now this is one of my favorites um it is absolutely solid which I think is very key um the way it’s mounted onto the fork is kind of similar to the um the flat Pat rack and theen is a flat rack and then a couple of stanions coming off of it um but this thing is solid and it just goes on there and it doesn’t move at all I mean I’ve taken it out m bike in with Sam Pilgrim Sam Pilgrim even did a wheelie on my bike if you not seen that video uh not that that makes a lot of difference with a rack on the front of your bike but I don’t know maybe maybe it tells tells you something I don’t know but it’s called the coffee wrap because you might see there’s a hole just in the top of it where you can put a coffee cup or a big can or something like that I don’t know um and then it’s a nice big flat platform you can just stack loads of stuff onto it as far as mounting it it is dead easy um quite very similar to the way the V1 is done as well it’s kind of like uh the stanions have a little slider on it and you can tighten that as you go um and then onto the actual Fork itself and then onto the fork either onto where the wheel the uh eyelets there you go uh or like bolts on the actual Fork self which is what I’ve been using uh but if I’m really honest it’s quite a simple one that it is it’s solid it looks really really nice cuz it’s got a raw finish to it uh it matches the fork if you were going to go for one of his Forks as well um and um yeah I highly rate it um I so much so I think I’m going to buy another Fork from this dude uh pretty soon and then maybe get another rack just cuz they’re really good um and I think it’s possibly one of the cheaper ones on this list um but uh he only sells through Instagram uh it’s over in IND Indonesia very very small operation um so if you’re interested I’ll link it down below I’ll link all this stuff below uh and you can go check it out send them a message see if he can something you can he can help you with that’s a rubbish sentence you know what I’m saying this one is possibly one of the ones that I’ve had the most compliments amount uh and probably the most questions uh this one uh is from a company called manav and I may be pronouncing the rest of these words completely wrong um but it is manav Val uh they are based out in France um up until very recently the baskets themselves were made by a shopping cart company in France very close to where they were made um that company is actually recently uh closed down unfortunately uh so they have a new manufacturer um but they are high quality baskets and racks um and possibly one of my favorites on the list I’m probably going to say that after everyone I talk about but this one’s a good one as far as fitting this one again super straightforward all the bolts and every componentry and stuff is inside um and it takes minutes and I don’t think there’s even any instructions in it it’s so straightforward you just can work it out um I do really like on this one the the actual stanions themselves um are adjustable so you can actually turn them uh the bit at the bottom to make them longer or shorter um I’ve currently got the basket mounted on uh my wife’s itty bitty mini um in this picture I’ve got it mounted differently because I didn’t have the right bolts um but uh I have now bed it so it’s nice and straight um but I want to show you that more in details in a video soon I finish the it itty bitty I never finished the video she’s been riding and it loads there’s some updates to come on that just just as a side note uh but I have also just received a new one from manav this is the actual flat rack um this is going on a bike that I’m building for myself at the moment um I can’t tell much about it apart from the fact that um it’s a coner building myself another cona it’s very nice one um but this is going on it you’ll just have to wait to see [Music] the next one probably has the best name and it is Jack the rack now I’ve seen these knocking around for a very long time um but earlier or late last year I managed to get my hands on one for the first time and I was so impressed the big thing and I think I’ve kind of mention this a little bit in each rack so far I switch bikes quite of often and I think it’s quite nice to have certain componentry and C Hardware that you use on multiple bikes racks baskets and things like that can be a little bit more tricky to kind of switch between especially if you have multiple bikes ready to go and you just want to flip at onto the next bike for just that day well Jack the Rack in my opinion is the best on the market for that it quite literally hooks over the handlebars and then with a strap it’s attached it’s as simple as that really really straightforward to do I don’t think I actually have a footage of me mounting it yet so I’ll do that soon um but it it just goes on really really well um I haven’t car carried much on it apart from shopping bags um if you get a you know a decent size big shopping bag um put it on the front of the the rack and then use the elastic straps that it comes with like it’s it’s easy it’s so good for just like little things like that nippin for shop especially like uh stuff that’s um kind of soft and Squishy um I think it’s going to be perfect and reason why I wanted one of these is for like bike packing stuff so if you were put in sleeping bags or clothes those sort of squashy you know malleable bags that you can do on the front of that perfect for that sort of stuff another thing with the Jack the rack as well and I’ve got a new one just arrived recently as well uh I now have one in black as well which I really wanted um and it comes with uh straps inside the yellow straps you’ve seen on these clips they all come inside including all the hard that we need um and the different size uh spaces for different size handlebars but apart from that hooks on and you’re away it’s one of the best racks out there the only problem with it is the fact that it’s not very big and you can’t carry lots and lots of stuff on it or big boxes although maybe we need to test to see how big of an item we can fit on one we’ll do that soon one of you pointed out recently that I haven’t had a new stickers for a while and you are dead right um I’ve been going through all the most popular designs and reprinting them um but I haven’t updated many of them for a while uh so I still don’t have any but I am in the process of finalizing some designs and I would probably going to order this week so very soon we’ll have a whole new range of stickers and I’ll probably keep some of the favorites as well but a couple weeks back we did a mystery sticker pack and you guys went absolute bananas for them and asked me to do it again um I’ve gone through all my sticker collections and I have so many being in this kind of industry you get so many stickers sent to you all your mates do their own stickers and then I’ve got loads of stickers and I’m not very good at looking after them so they just disperse but I have found some old sold out stickers for example I don’t know if anybody remembers these ones the second life bike IPA stickers they went crazy um I’ve even found a handful of the very first crusty creu stickers on that note I’m going to be to announc in the next group ride possibly this week as well so listen out for that but I also just have tons and tons and tons of stickers in all different shapes and sizes all including some the pixie dust uh proper crusty stickers there’s even a bunch of these ones in there as well but I’m going to make up five maybe six mystery packs and I’m going to pop them on the website right now if you’re into them they are there I know a bunch of you missed them and you’re a bit upset about it um mystery sticker packs coming back again they’re on the website now you know where to find them save bikes.com moving on now I do have one more and this one is a bit more of a curve ball you might have saw in one of the first Clips in this video uh riding the the purple uh rally uh that had a basket on the front of it there’s also my uh a Mel I think it was called a Mel the one that I painted years ago now and that also had a white one on front that was the paint matched the um bike itself those baskets are from H&M these here so this is the Look it’s even this one’s even got the label on it still h m home that’s where I’ve been getting these from um it’s been a while since I’ve I’ve done it um but uh I it’s one of the best baskets you can get and I think they cost about £8 and they come in different sizes as well depending on which Rack you’re putting on um but and then what I’ve got on the bike itself and I don’t have any footage of this probably right now um is you can buy the reasonably cheap uh racks that kind of go on to break post bolts um that that’s what those ones in the videos are from or how they’re attached you can get them now that are have little like con of stanions again that kind of go onto the fork or onto the wheel nuts and stuff like that um but if you can find a cheap platform you get one of those and then you zip tight on done and it looks sick it’s super super cheap so it’s a little bit of a curable um but it is it’s like it’s well good it’s and it’s proper crusty there you go and there we have it that brings us to the very end of the video um and I’m sure some of you are wondering where the hell is the cheap bike buildoff and I am sorry uh long story short and I will do a full video explaining it more detail and finishing the bike um but uh I decided to try and keep in budget to keep really cheap to order some of my parts from the Netherlands and day didn’t arrive until 2 days ago so I’m now working on it to try and build it up in time I say in time I’ve missed it I missed it but I will continue cuz it’s going to be a really nice bike I’ve got some cool ideas of it it’ll happen sorry in the meantime though I have been working on some other projects uh so they will be coming out soon as well plenty going on hold on tight but if you are new to the channel for this video uh we do mainly bike builds around here as retro and crusty as possible but
