RACE Across London… BIKE VS TRAIN 🚴🚊
#gcn #race #london #publictransport #bike #tube
How fast can I cross London by bike? And how much quicker than a train will I be? I’m going to win. Crossing the river. Lots of red lights. Slow me down. Magnificent day to go on a bike. Look at that. Time to see the [Applause] sights. This in some guy’s house now just around the corner. I’ve got this one. Well, check your side off.

В ролике показаны лондонцы Дэн и Фин, которые участвуют в гонке от Кристалл-Палас до Кингс-Кросс. Дэн использует общественный транспорт, а Фин едет на велосипеде.
51 min 😰
Let's not forget the hidden cost of breathing steel dust on the underground.

I live in a town that is 10 times smaller than London and it takes almost ant hour to get across with a bike for me
Hah.
Torpedo man👌
Could they not just have walked 5 mins to London Bridge and got the jubilee line, then changed at baker st? Would have saved 20 mins!
No idea why you swapped at Liverpool Street but circle line is 25 min to Paddington from Tower Hill. This video is just lying. When I ride my bike it’s not because it’s quicker. Also, you should count the time it takes you to put on all your Lycra and shoes.
Rocking the SPATZ glasses! 🔥
Walk 5 min to tower Hill, get the district line -> Whitechapel change on the Elizabeth line to Paddington, save 15 to 20min
I recently helped my sistster 'move flat' in london. Or rather helped her get all her stuff into a moving van.
It was then quick trip from old to new place.
The bike would have quicker, I did manage to get myself lost ~ its been a while since I've been in london. The real kicker for public transport is the wait times, and the problem of getting up/down to the underground platform.
Also when you are on the bike you can often take a 'more direct' route, especially compared to a bus or a car. Also I was taking my time, no point in me arriving before everyone else as I didn't have a key for her new place !
I think that if the journey is less than 30minutes there is definately a good argument for getting on a bike. The break point comes at about 45 minutes to 1 hour. This break point depends on the following :
~ you like being on the bike (you are a cyclist)
~ you can quickly find a Boris bike (or similar) ~ are the 'parking' places convenient to your yourney
~~ related to this it is reasonbly safe where you intend to lock up your bike ~ which negates the 'parking place' problem above
~ is it raining, or look like it is going to rain.
~ do you need to take stuff with you (ie if you are commuting how 'inconvenient' is it to carry your gear, or a you taking a picnic with you ~ I am not a fan of squished sandwiches, and that bottle of bubbly and the champagne glasses are heavy and delicate, it occurs to me I may be doing my picnics wrong, or maybe I'm doing them right 😕🤷)
~ if you are going further, how 'convenient' is it to take your bike on public transport.
When I lived in Toronto there was nowhere in the city I couldn't get to faster by bike than by car or transit. It was a very good place to ride a bike, until they put bike lanes everywhere.
What’s more impressive is that you made it across London without being kicked off and threatened with a machette by bike thieves.
Rehash of a top gear episode but with presenters almost no one knows.
