So I have a beautiful BMC Roadmachine TWO 2022. SRAM Axs force, carbon wheels. I have it bike fitted and have enjoyed it for almost two years.

Recently however, I got the opportunity to ride a 2020 Canyon Endurace cf sl 8. On paper a cheaper and less advanced bike, mechanical shifting, alloy wheels. But wow, what a difference in comfort. I felt I could keep pushing much more after one hour than with my Roadmachine. And actually my ftp went up a whooping 8-9%. When I returned to my Roadmachine I can now feel the difference – the Roadmachine is stiffer and more responsive, but you feel every bump and I guess that fatigues me in the longer run. I mostly ride to keep me in shape, i am 42, and only occasionally race, and I am also not super flexible, so that might also make a difference.

Both bikes run the same pressure 28mm gp5000.

I want to keep the same level of bike, electrical shifting and carbon wheels, so I am looking at the Canyon Endurace cf slx 8 ultegra di2 aero, but I will need to chip in +1000€ since the price of my Roadmachine obviously has dropped as a used bike. But am I downgrading? Upgrading? Is it worth the money? And will this years canyon have the same comfort as the 2020 canyon I tried? to be honest, I am also thinking that the 35mm wheels on the canyon are less aero than the 45mm I have, and which I know makes a difference when racing or riding fast in groups…

What to do…
