I have a Miyata from the 80s that I just bought that came with Dura Ace Dyna Drive cranks and while peddling I felt the drive side pedal give. I immediately got off and went home and the threads were as good as stripped from the deformation of the metal. So I tried to remove the Dyna drive adapter that lets you use 9/16 pedals. With my full strength on the wrench the metal on the adapter deformed, and the huge sudden release of tension sent the wrench straight into my forehead. Now I’ve got a headache and I can’t even swap out the cranks on my bike because I’ve found that the threading for where the crank puller goes has been stripped. So I can’t use my bike until the automotive gear puller that I’ve been forced to order arrives and I can pull the drive side crank off of the bottom bracket spindle. So here’s my rant about Dyna Drive and soft metal.
