🚴♂️ Gravel Ride: La Tranche-sur-Mer to Île de Ré with Canals, Coastlines & Island Gravel 🌊
This coastal gravel route takes you from La Tranche-sur-Mer all the way to the island of Île de Ré, combining peaceful inland scenery with breathtaking Atlantic views. The journey begins through the Marais Poitevin National Park, a landscape filled with old canals, farmland, and wildlife (otters) if you’re lucky so keep your camera ready! It’s a perfect mix of serenity and adventure that captures the essence of the French west coast.
After leaving the National Park, the route turns toward the Atlantic coastline, following smooth gravel paths that hug the sea. You’ll pass traditional fishing cottages, WWII relics, and stretches of coastal gravel that make this section unforgettable. Finally, as you reach La Rochelle, you’ll cross the iconic bridge to Île de Ré, looping around the island before finishing in the charming town of La Flotte — the perfect ending to an epic coastal gravel ride.
