Hello again 🙂 Welcome to part 2 of my trip to the South of France It’s beautiful weather today, so we’re starting our morning at the beach I’m on this trip with my family in August For the past few days it’s been raining and now we finally get to enjoy the waters of the Mediterranean A cappuccino to start the day along with a book I’m currently reading The water is warm enough for swimming, but the wind is getting stronger by the minute and causing big waves They had to put up a red flag and get everyone out of the water They even closed everyone’s umbrellas but the sun is too strong right now so it’s not pleasant to sit without an umbrella We decided to pack up our stuff and go for a bike ride by the beach There are plenty of spots around the city that have these Lime bikes You can rent them on their app We’re going to have some lunch in Old Nice since it’s where our Airbnb is Because of the heat outside I just wanted to have ice cream and a cold drink Strolling the streets of Old Town is always nice at this time of day I especially love looking at the architecture and the different colors of the buildings We have plans to meet up with my family later for dinner We’re going to rest in our Airbnb and get cleaned up before dinner time Back at the Cours Saleya On tonight’s menu it’s pasta for my mom and seafood dishes for everyone else I was in the mood for salmon This morning, we stumbled upon the antique market I always like to browse in case something catches my eye Looking for antique treasures is always interesting to me I didn’t find anything appealling today so we’ll just go to a bakery to pick up some pastries and then get coffee for breakfast at a café near our Airbnb I wanted to have a strawberry tart and my fiancé got a chocolate éclair After breakfast, we’re taking an Uber to the town of Villefranche-sur-Mer It’s about a 15 mins car ride from Old Nice The Uber dropped us off at the center of the town In the evening, we’ll pick a spot where we’ll have dinner For now, we have a few hours to explore and then go to the beach I don’t have a specific plan for today, so we’ll just wander through the streets You can see the train from here that can take you to all the coastal towns It’s been drizzling all day and the sky is grey, but it’s not so bad that we can’t sit at the beach In fact, the beach looks mostly empty There are people coming and going occassionally but the section where we put our stuff has only had 1 or 2 other people there We used our towels instead of paying for loungers The water here has almost no waves We ended up swimming for over 2 hours The beach in Nice is more chaotic and has bigger pebbles, which are hard to walk on I definitely prefer Plage des Marinieres here in Villefranche-sur-Mer I’m having the risotto with black tiger prawns and my fiancé is enjoying the spaghetti with clams Of course, we had to order dessert, too Our last day in France is going to be spent in Menton We’re stopping by some shops first and I decided to buy this perfume to remind me of the Mediterranean I’m also buying some postcards and a magnet I’ve seen pictures of Menton and there are some great views in this town Plus, the architecture is very colorful This place has been on my list for a bit now The beach here also seems to have no waves It’s quite hot today and we brought our bathing suits so let’s find a beach club with loungers and umbrellas We had to wait about 30 mins for available chairs so we ordered fried calamari with drinks Now, we can enjoy the refreshing water and marvel at the view of the town Once it gets closer to 4 o’clock, we’ll go exploring These are the famous stairs that appear in pictures If you ascend the stairs, you’ll come to the Basilica of Saint-Michel Archange and get great views of the coast The quaint streets of Old Town add a lot of character to this already charming place on the French Riviera If you keep climbing up the streets you’ll stumble on some great spots for pictures with views of the port and the towm and maybe even meet some neighborhood cats 🙂 Make sure to stop by the cemetary as well since it also has great viewpoints After your walk, grab some gelato at one of the shops and head to the sea to watch the sunset Thanks for watching!
