Bcolic is almighty heck. That’s really the only fair assessment of the New Forest, one of the UK’s most beautiful and historic national parks. It’s also one of the most spectacular places in England to ride a bike. And I’m now lucky enough to live just around the corner. The riding here is wonderfully varied. Smooth roads that twist along open ridges, narrow lanes that weave through ancient woodland, and long straight stretches cutting clean across more than 500 km of wild open landscape. You won’t find any long climbs here, but short, sharp pinches, some hitting 25% are scattered across the land, ready to catch you out when you least expect it. It’s a place shaped by history. Created as a royal hunting ground by Billy the Conqueror back in 1089. And to this day, the animals still roam free. Horses, ponies, pigs, and cows cut about as they please, completely unfaced by human company, turning every ride into an interactive safari. And beyond the tarmac, there’s a whole other world of mountain biking and some of the finest gravel in the country. But that’s a story for another video.
