the first time I met Ian in 2017. and I had decided to do one of the longest rides I had ever done by riding to willington along the #trent&mersey #canal and back to long Eaton.

Right. Hello and welcome to another video. This time we’re going to show you one of the old videos taken off the original channel. Now, I know it’s not a a competition, but a lot of people come on the channel saying, you know, I’ve seen Ian on Dave channels first, but he was actually on my original channel years ago, and it actually helped make the channel what it is. I may not have achieved some of the things I’ve achieved without Ian. So, a very big thank you to him. Now, here’s the video. I’d just like you to know my life was different back then. My confidence and attitude was all different back then. So, I may seem different in this video. So, I hope you enjoy it. [Music] [Music] Hello and welcome to the River Trent, more specifically Trent Lock. As you can see, it is a beautiful day. And I’m waiting for Ian Martin to arrive. He might be a while yet. So, I’m just going to find somewhere to chill out. Lots of boats on the river as if it’s spat. As you may know, we’re sort of doing a trip to Willington and Ian will be carrying on back to where he lives after that and I will come back this way home. In fact, Ian has just sent me a message which has come up on the GPS. It’s a really nice day, so it should be really enjoyable. I got a bit bored waiting at Trent lock, so I decided to ride along the Trent. I found this kind of kind of like a little beach thing next to this lake. It’s really kind of peaceful, tranquil, and relaxing here. Anyway, I get on with riding. Oh, this is mad, right? Welcome back. I’ve met with Ian with riding along the river Trent. We’re about to go under the motorway where you’ve seen on the last time I came up this way. And he just going to see like where he’s ridden from and where he’s roughly going. Oh, YouTube. Nice to meet you, James. Yeah, it’s nice to meet up with somebody who likes cycling. Yeah. Um I’m from Gorsal. Uh I cycled to a place called Kosil yesterday. Uh, I got the train from there to Melton Mobrey. Uh, cycled from Melton Mobrey up to the Granthon Canal. Uh, cycled along there, slept on there last night. Uh, carried on this morning, met up with James and we’re now on the River Trent. Yes. And we’re hopefully heading to Wellington. Yeah. Uh, and then I’ll cycle home, which is a damn long way. Yeah, man. And James will cycle back, which is a damn long way. Yeah. And you all know if you should know what legendary YouTuber I think lives in Wellington, someone known as TJ. Well, we don’t know if we’ll bump into him, but you never know. This is uh quite This is kind of cool under here. Maybe the hooded man’s bushcraft could do like a stealth camp under there. Anyway, I’ll bring you back when we’re further along. Also, the Mish has called me twice and I’m going to be in big trouble. Straight up. So, where where is this now? Um, pretty, isn’t it? I’ll have to look on my map to remember the name. Yeah, miscond. We’re just stopping for a break. It’s really nice riding along here. It’s just so these woods and the trees. I think it’s so pleasant. There’s plenty of boats along here. Other people riding bikes, walkers. This is just really enjoyable day out. Very nice. And we’ve got quite a way to go yet. So, I’ll bring you back later. Now, we’re just taking another rest. We’ve both been going a pretty long distance. We’re still on the Trenton Murzy Canal. And hopefully you can see over there the five cooling towers of the old Wellington power station. It’s still very pleasant out here. It is. You can just hear a bit of traffic. So, I’ll come back soon. Well, we’re taking another another little break. We’re getting closer to Wellington. We found this bridge here with these archways and there’s a railway line under there and somewhere over there are the cooling towers. I might go and see if I can get a quick look. I don’t know if I can really get up there. Probably can. There’s a load of more narrow boats. I can’t get a good shot of the cooling towers over there, but I can’t really get a good shot of them at the moment. Well, we made it to Wellington. We’re just having a drink at the Dragon Pub. It’s very nice there. Lovely weather. It’s really pleasant. You should come here sometime. All right. Definitely a bit tiring it is. But worth it though. Definitely worth it. Yeah. Good to meet you. Right. It’s been good meeting up and we’re both heading off home different directions. Now I’ll film a little bit on the way but not too much. It’s been really nice at this pub. So let’s get going. Well, I’m heading back along the canal. Got a hell of a long way to go, so I’m going to take my time. I’m actually sure, but I spotted the Jesus King of Kaying on a bike. He might not have liked it when I shouted te at him. Oh, I’ll bring you back soon. Well, I just stopped to give you a better view of uh abandoned power station. And then some people have actually been urban exploring there. Now I’m going to get on with my ride cuz we’ve got a long way to go. So I’ll bring you back later. I didn’t really film this bit on the way out here. I just think it’s the most it’s the most fantastic looking place. I can hear someone playing music cuz there probably some houses up there even though you can’t see them. But it just is the most peaceful, tranquil place. And I’ve still got quite a long way to ride, but I’m doing well. Right, I’m nearly back to Trent Lock. Got a little bit more to go. And what a amazing sight. That’s looking back up the river. I’m just passing by Sally Marina. Nice Dutch barge. [Music] Well, it’s been a really enjoyable day out. as I may have said. And I’d like to thank Mr. Morty Outdoors for coming along on the trip even though he’s doing his own trip, which is longer than mine. Yeah, it’s been a real worthwhile great day out. Well, I hope I’m going the right way. We’re going over this bridge. There’s a power station. So if I hope this this isn’t the way I came. I guess I should have tried coming this way, but I kind of didn’t think you could, but Well, I’m starting to feel tired now.
