The 12th day of my solo motorcycle off-road adventure across the Balkans continued from the city of Ohrid, North Macedonia. Yesterday I realised that I had just a week left before I had to be back in Milan, Italy. Thus I decided not to continue further South, but turn back to North as there were some places on my bucket list which I wanted to see on the way. I also wanted to have one totally ride free day in some nice place.
Therefore I took Kosovo as my next destination! Another new country for me on this trip! As there was quite much distance to be travelled, I took only the main road through North Macedonia.
I had already booked a room in Kosovo from the city of Prizren. The Trans Euro Trail was leading exactly that way from the border! The trail had a main trail, and some loops along it marked as difficult. The day was yet again very hot, more than +32 C most of the time. The constant heat made me decide not to try those loops, but to follow the main trail, which was all paved. The I also wouldn’t have to struggle with the engine temps of my KTM 790 Adventure R “Keijo”. The roads turned out excellent! All the way beautiful mountain sceneries. I didn’t know that Kosovo had such mountains! I should look at the maps in more detail.
I reached Prizren in quite good time, so had time to explore the city and enjoy a delicious dinner. Not much to see except the centre, but yet again the atmosphere was excellent!

[Music] [Music] good morning from Sunny Orit time is now a bit past 9:00 temperature already 26° this was a really beautiful city with excellent atmosphere I realized yesterday that today I need to start heading towards north again because it’s already Tuesday and next Wednesday I need to be back in Milan and there’s places I want to visit before that so today I will take the main road to Kosovo never been there as well so it will be the fourth new country for me on this trip and maybe I’ll do some transure trail also today there if it feels suitable but I already booked the room in briten so let’s start heading towards there welcome along [Music] all right so this is the to Road let’s see how this works and what is the fee 50 [Music] Cent hello [Music] all right so that was about 50 cents and you could pay luckily with a card because I only have 150 Bill [Music] left okay so this is now the fourth toll post here on this highway seems that everything 10 to 20 kilm there are such and it’s about 50 cents each so not too bad maybe 20 km left to the border between Kosovo and North Macedonia the last 100 kilom or so has been quite fast because of the highways so that was that was good in general the transits here have been quite slow even when you are taking the main roads good but let’s head to the border and then we we need to also buy the traffic Insurance there because the finish insurance is not valid here all right so here are the b bs first Macedonia and then to [Music] Kosovo okay Macedonian side done that didn’t take too long let’s see how kovo side is for the insurance I think I need to take this [Music] one all right I’m now in Kosovo for the first time ever looking good looking good now I just need to make some planning how to ride to the destination to follow the Transit Road Trail or something else time is now 1240 so quite good I will first fill up here in this shell all right had a really good pasta carbonada there for lunch and also made the planning how to reach Bridge R basically the trans Euro trail goes that way exactly so I will be following that and then it makes this kind of Loops couple of Loops there in between but both of those are Parts which are marked difficult and especially the other one is called endural Loop temperature is now 32° so I will not go there and see how those are so I will just follow the main route which is I think paved all the way but that’s all right [Music] this is a 5.7 kilom Long Bridge one of the longest I have ridden in a long [Music] time okay so it’s start it started to rain I don’t know if this is only local stuff or they this last for longer I think I need to take off the mic and put some rain chet on at least and put the passport in a dry place because definitely my pants will be soon soaking with [Music] yeah the rain actually didn’t last so long maybe 5 minutes after I put my rain check it on this road actually was a mountain pass we are now at 1516 m this is the peak some kind of tourist Resort popular there’s people having picnic over there and there’s lot of hotels and cabins and so on but I don’t see any ski resort so most likely this is like hiking or something like that all right but let’s continue I I have ridden now 30 kilm of this transy road Trail so far super nice views again and again I didn’t know that Kosovo is also this kind of a high mountain country maybe I should look at the maps in more detail there’s lot of this stray dogs here need to be careful with them but yeah I was saying that this is the seventh new country on this trip where I have ridden Transit Road trail and I think it will be the last one as well because from here on I need to start heading back to Milano so I was thinking Montenegro and Bosnia again and Croatia naturally but let’s see how the week turns out I would like to have one ride three day as well okay so there’s a bit of offroad here but anyhow I love the way Transit Road Trail gives this kind of a backbone for traveling in different countries having a different adventures and seeing different places so so far everything has been [Music] [Applause] [Applause] excellent we have arrived to bridg Ren now let’s just find a hotel have a beer and then explore the City hotel Pria there it is I think I can go here hello I have a reservation yes [Music] n

How much is that insurance? Is that a daily basis so you need to know how long you are in the country ? Little rain was probably refreshing 😌
