🚴♂️ Gravel Ride: La Tranche-sur-Mer to La Rochelle – Canals, Coastlines & Classic French Gravel 🇫🇷
This stunning gravel route connects La Tranche-sur-Mer with the historic port city of La Rochelle, taking you through one of western France’s most scenic landscapes. The first part of the ride winds through the Marais Poitevin National Park, an area known for its endless canals, peaceful farmland, and authentic countryside atmosphere. It’s a perfect stretch for those who love long, meditative gravel sections surrounded by nature and history.
After leaving the canal region, the route turns toward the Atlantic coast and heads south. Here I re-used part of a previous route I created to Île de Ré. Riding along the coast here is simply unforgettable: white gravel paths beside the ocean, traditional fishing cottages and WWII remnants scattered along the shoreline. The journey ends in La Rochelle, where you roll from the city’s raw industrial harbor into its charming old port — a beautiful conclusion to a truly diverse gravel adventure.
